This is a really good event filled with a lot of good teams.

Modesto Christian is by far the best team I have seen.

Friday:

MC won against Da La Salle
MC won against Valley Christian (was over a 40 point victory).

Saturday:

MC won against Mitty
MC won against Clovis West

The schedule says they have one game left against Crespi later this afternoon.

Valley Christian actually impressed me the most. Blowout loss to MC but are a high energy team and play as hard as any team around. Won every other game I watched including beating De La Salle. Tovar is a stud.

Mitty on Friday didn't have everyone there and lost to Valley Christian but Saturday it appears they have a full roster and are playing much better. They are really well coached and disciplined.

Da La Salle will be fine. They run their offense to perfection and it's more about the system then big time named players. They will be among the top NorCal teams all year.

Clovis West is their typical solid team. Not to familiar with their players but they run the same system as always. They also have a few new transfers who are starting. I know they got Milton from San Joaquin Memorial (plays with Team Lillard).

Moreau Catholic is actually better then I thought with losing such a big time player in Kyree. They probably won't be an elite team this year but I think they can hang with a lot of teams and probably create a few upsets a long the way.

SPSV has some good young players. Will be a bit of a rebuild this year due to inexperience but they can be a team causing a lot of problems in NorCal in the next few years.

I decided to steel myself to the 2-court thing and attend, getting there just after 12. What I did NOT account for was that it was at an underfunded junior college during the summer. No air-conditioning, brutally hot, at least 90 in the gym. Watched the DLS loss to Crespi and turned around to watch the last of the Mitty-SPSV game and then chose to split rather than risk heat stroke. When I went outside, the near-100-degree temp actually felt relatively cool... for a few seconds... Couldn't wait to get to my air-conditioned car...

Well, I'll be back at Dougherty tomorrow, where I won't melt.
