Most of the time it is not the kid making these choices. Adults living thru them make these calls.

so transferring to an elite basketball program to focus on school and basketball is a negative? Only if you dont have the ability to do it is when it is a negative.
an adult making this choice is how it should be. kids cant make any other education choices can they? Maybe the gangs in long beach were becoming an issue.

I think this might actually be his 7th high school?!?!

He is from upstate New York and originally went to Saugerties (hometown school) and played on the varsity team as a 7th and 8th grader! He enrolled at IMG for his Freshman year, but got injured and never actually played for IMG. He finished his Freshman year back at Saugerties and then planned to transfer to Findlay Prep for his Sophomore year. Unfortunately Findlay Prep ceased operations in May 2019. Then his Sophomore year transfer journey went from Hillcrest Prep to Fairfax to finally Mayfair where he teamed up with Josh Christopher to form an underperforming "super team".

That's 6 schools ( twice at Saugerties )

Also if I understand the rule correctly In California you can only play 4 years of Varsity. Doesn’t matter when you start. He started Varsity in 7th . Therefore he’s done in California and has no choice but to transfer to a Oak Hill / MV/ IMG type school

I am not sure that is correct. I believe the rule is once you enter 9th grade you are eligible for HS sports for 8 consecutive semesters. Either way it is a lot of moves.

Yes it's 9th grade. Although a kid at a Vallejo HS got 9 semesters a few years ago.
