Who you got? Or should I ask can DLS hold Chino under 100 points? Can DLS stay within a 50 point beat down?
Folks the circus has come to town.

You are very correct when you use the word "circus." Chino Hills vs. DLS will be a meeting of utter opposites in just about every sense of the term.

DLS has to figure out a way to take the air out of the ball. Think Alloco days. If it's up and down forgot about it. Everyone pretty much knew that MC and DLS play similar styles and it would be a low scoring affair. Like you've said this one is entirely different. Personally I don't think Chino will score 100 but I also know they won't score 50 either. I could seriously see them in the high 70's or low 80's like there last few playoff games. I might be alone on this one but I also don't think DLS will get blown out.

It will be interesting to see if DLS comes out with some tailored defense. Almost like giving up a rebounder on the offensive glass to always have a kid back. But that kid needs to be one of the longer guys like Macarcuk who can deflect high passes and actually stop the break. You have to think differently in this game. I would really like to see how that plays out.

Unless DLS gets to pick the 3 officials, shoots 60% from field & something happens where Lonzo Ball only plays 10-15 mins. I can't see dls staying w/in 20pts. Chino is on a mission. Don't see any upset here this yr

Their is absolutely no respect for DLS. Max preps does not even rank them let alone cover what they are doing. All max preps does is hale to Chino Hills. I think that DLS will slow game down spread the court and minimize the possessions of Chino. The only way they can come close.

Strange things have happened in Finals games before. I've seen stars foul our or get T up. Santa Monica a few years ago with Jordan Mathews. I believe it was Pleasant Grove game I've seen stars get into foul trouble and totally get taken out of the game. (Happened Last year with Lonzo). Something like this will have to happen for them to win. If its business as usual that will not be good.

I agree and this is the perfect setup for the upset of the century. Didn't Pinewood just beat the #1 team in the country on the girls side? Nobody including myself saw that coming.

Larry,
Pinewood lost to Miramonte. Upset of the century will be if DLS can beat Chino. Chino is number 1 in every ranking, there is absolutely no dowt about it.

Pinewood beat st Mary's of Stockton last week. St Mary's was #1 in every poll as well and 32-0 going into that game. Then pinewood got routed by miramonte. Honestly this would be a similar type upset.

Well, the ultimate Chino Hills bad luck charm is.... Me.

I personally saw them play at Damien last year, and they lost. I personally saw they play SRV last year, and they lost. And those are the only times I saw CH in person. I'll be there at Sleep Barn on Saturday so that they can lose to DLS! :D:rolleyes:o_O

Well, yeah. But seriously, just about everything will have to go in DLS's direction for the Spartans to have any real shot at this. Besides, the 2016 Chino Hills is light-years better than the 2015 Chino Hills. And unlike last year, CH really really really can play DEFENSE. Just ask 102-54 playoff victim Mater Dei if the Bruins can D-up a little. Of the 54 points MD managed to put up, at least 25 of them occurred after CH was totally on cruise-control.

If Sparty absolutely plays their tails off, mayyyyyyyyyyyyyyybeeeeee they can keep it respectable, like within 15 or so... But I doubt it.

I do think DLS can slow 'em down, at least a little, but nowhere near enough. I'll say 91-59.

OK kiddman32.....It's Put Up Time

I am willing to put up the $11.50 for a one way BigDog Express (Greyhound) Oakland to Sacto ticket.
Meet me at the the terminal, Saturday morning for the ticket and I will also throw in the Italian Stallion sandwich from Genova's and 2 fistsize Redbulls for the game.
If your juju charm pulls off the upset there will be a return ticket taped to the back of the toilet tank in the the 3rd stall at the north bathrooms in the Sleep Train.................otherwise, wear your favorite walking home shoes.

Good one, concrete... But I avoid public transportation at all costs. When you want a job done right (in this case get there safely and on-time), do it yourself. :)

Have to check out the Chino Hills team in person. It'll be interesting to see if DLS tries to slow it down (slow death) or match tempo (quick death) with them.

Also checking out the Serra D2 final and the Girls Open will be great as well. Last year's Girls Open (Stockton St Mary's vs Mater Dei) might have been the best high school basketball game that I've ever seen! Those girls were flat out ballin........

Im reaching here but one advantage DLS can use is that CH plays a 6'9 freshman and the youngest Ball who is a freshman also. It helps to have the the two elder Ball Bros to balance out the experience part. DLS will need to slow this one down and basically bore CH to death. This is basketball and whoever imposes their will on the game will likely be the winner. Styles make fights and this hopefully will be a 12 rounder.

Doesn't matter that younger ball is a freshman, he has been playing open division aau since 7th grade and started all year on the #1 team in the country who has barn stormed through out the country. How do you keep lonzo from a triple double. Slow it down Spartans and limit possessions. Chino has learned from last year and DE LA salle knows they are huge underdogs. Ball handling will be key! Can #14 help Rathino handle the rock? They both will probably have to play the whole game since the are typically the only ball handlers. Let's go norcal!!!!

Guys, lets get creative. DLS has to do something gimmick in this one. You have to take a risk and hedge somebody. Let say playing off Lonzo and let him shot 25 footers? He can beat you off the dribble so easy and hit his little brothers who I think are better natural shooters. I've seen Lonzo bomb in games but he's a volume shooter, but I still don't think I would consider him a 3pt shooter. Take a risk here. It could totally backfire. I've been watching the state games for 20+ years and 2 players shot the ball extremely well in Arco that I recall. One is Klay Thompson when he played for Santa Margarita HS. Klay is arguably one of the best shooters on the planet. The next guy is Katin Reinhardt from Mater Dei. He is a great shooter as well. Tough to shoot in that gym. But doing what everybody else is doing aint going to work. These guys cherry pick to death so DLS is going to get looks.

Twitter- I think you are being funny. DLS will not be held to 42. Chino will give up points. They just know they will outscore you.

Also Udenyi is going to have to shoot that FT line extended shot. Teams just sag so much on him. He's got to keep them honest.

On s side note how much is parking at sleep train (Arco) and is tailgating allowed????

$15 for car unless your driver brings you in your limo ($30)
Tailgating allowed in your space (no 2nd, extra space next to your car), no alcohol, no glass bottles, take your BBQ coals home with you. Sleep Train prefers tailgating in green areas around parking.

Stanley Johnson was on fire from 3 (made 5 or 6) in 2013 when they beat Mitty in the first ever Open division final...

Mussleman, for Monte Vista so lights out against Corona Centennial. Think Klay and Mussleman are exceptions. Because of family they had been shooting in arenas all their lives.

Look Arco (sleep train) is the biggest dump most of us will attend. American Canyon HS is a nicer venue. Plan on the worse food and slowest service you can imagine. Also quit whining about the costs. You amortize it over several games and its still a good bang for your buck.

I watched Stanley Johnson who isnt even in Klay Thompson's ballpark shoot the lights out at Arco for his 4 state finals. He was hitting NBA 3s. You would put Reinhart above Jason Kapono LL33?

thanks concrete

I think Reinhardt had 6 3's. Trevor John was amazing as well. His came mainly within a 5 or 6 min span if I recall.
I don't ever recall Jason Kapono playing for a state title. He went to Artesia I know that.

In any event all of these guys you are mentioning shoot the ball better than Lonzo does. A lot better. Major weakness per NBA scouting report.
"-Extremely unique shooting mechanics. Releases the ball from the left side of his body, well below his head. Shoots across his body. Easy to contest" You gotta do something if you are DLS. I wouldn't let the younger guys get looks. They shoot it really well especially Liangelo. DLS has really good size at the guard position. Physically Peters and Ratinho match up well at least in terms of length and weight.

This should be a lot of fun... When is the last time a consensus #1 team in the nation has played for a calif title? Was it Mater Dei or one of the Westchester/Dominguez teams?

Match ups:
Lonzo - Ratinho
Liangelo - Peters
LaMelo - O'Dea or Orr
? - Udenyi
? - Marcuck
Pretty good match ups: advantage chino on athleticism, but DLS may have more disapline. DLS has to slow game down and use the whole shot clock and minimize possessions for Chino.

Chino has beaten better teams than DLS no problem, don't think they are lacking discipline at all

The only way De La Salle stands a chance is if Chino struggles to shoot the ball in a NBA arena. I have seen teams struggle time after time. Remember when that Sheldon squad was supposed to roll Mitty but got smacked by 20 in 2013? Grant it the Spartans don't have AG, but no one gave Mitty a chance. I say they keep it close for three quarters and Chino wears them down in the 4th for a 10 point win.

I believe I will hang tough with The Chino Family. That is only because Rufus who is my right hand man will be driving me there with his cute blondie plus the package includes a blind sided date for me. The type of coche we'll be driving in will be a classic cool mo papi car. I will be California Dreaming, while Rufus concentrates on much of the driving. In the back will be myself and the blind sided broad where she will be trying to figure out why the California Sun doesnt shine in certain places. By the time we get to the Chino game I will be more hyped than The Chino family after they smoke the family from De La Salle 88-61 if that

DLS better stay focused for the entire 32 minutes. Chino changes tempo and before you know it theres no catching up. Remember the other day Chino only led Bishop Montgomery 28-17 at the Half. Ended 84-62

Sports09: I agree with your prediction of the score being 45-30..... That will be the score with 2 min remaining in the 2nd Quarter... Chino by 25 but will stay under 100 points. 84-51 Final
