Nailed it, IMO.It is rare for a school to move on from a coach that has been relatively successful. Del Oro has dropped off from the Taylor days, but I thought Maben did a solid job there.
Could be a tough haul next year too with Pinnick moving on
You have no clue what you are talking about, and are clearly just trolling. Josh Parry is as good as they come. He was on the defensive staff at DO under Casey Taylor. He was the defensive coordinator under Jeff Walters and lead the team to a state bowl game. He has been very good as the offensive coordinator the last few years under Maben. He played linebacker at San Jose State, played fullback for the Philadelphia Eagles under Andy Reid and played in the Super Bowl for the Seahawks. He knows more football than most HS coaches ever dream to know. He is a tremendous leader of men and his players will run through a brick wall for him. If DO does take a step back, it will not be because of coaching or lack of stability in the program.Look for DO to take a significant step back in the coming years. Whitney will probably overtake them in the SFL now that they have better coaching and stability in the program.
........or more apply put.....clearly turd herdingYou have no clue what you are talking about, and are clearly just trolling. Josh Parry is as good as they come. So you’re already in “blame the kids” mode then? You have no clue what you are talking about, and are clearly just trolling. Josh Parry is as good as they come. That's what he does............or more apply put.....clearly turd herding
This was the logical conclusion when Del Oro made the change. Still don't like changing HS coaches like this, but Parry is well acccomplished and respected.Last year's OC and past DC of DO, Josh Parry, was announced as the new HC today.

So you’re already in “blame the kids”
I am not saying they will take a step back, but everyone knows it’s more about the Jimmy’s & Joe’s than X’s and O’s.so what will it be?
So you're blaming the kids already like I said?I am not saying they will take a step back, but everyone knows it’s more about the Jimmy’s & Joe’s than X’s and O’s.
i agree with that for sure.I am not saying they will take a step back, but everyone knows it’s more about the Jimmy’s & Joe’s than X’s and O’s.
It's the truth. Maben did a solid job with what they have athletically. They are not physically better than the teams they lost to. Some coaches get a pass when they get out classed (in terms of overall athletic ability.)i agree with that for sure.
FFA isn't as popular is it was in the past. As a program that attracted future farmers with uncanny football skills......The Jimmy and Joes aren't transferring to DO like in the past.......
Or one Casey Taylor left the program.FFA isn't as popular is it was in the past. As a program that attracted future farmers with uncanny football skills......
That's one reason he left. That pipeline was getting shut down and he knew competing without it wasn't happening. At least not for long. Walters retained a solid group and had a great season then fell off. Mike inherited the real aftermath and managed it well. Somehow the same administrators who decided the questionable transfers didn't fit their "academic integrity" model are the same people who booted Maben for not being able to compete at the level which requires transfers. Go figure. This is why people are getting out of this profession. The expectations and the compensation are world's apart.Or one Casey Taylor left the program.
If it was the 2024 season and they were sitting at 0-5, you'd have an argument. However, we are a long ways from August/the beginning of the season. Where is the venom coming from?So you're blaming the kids already like I said?
No venom, just pointing out the hypocrisy. The facts are the facts. If it was the 2024 season and they were sitting at 0-5, you'd have an argument. However, we are a long ways from August/the beginning of the season. Where is the venom coming from?
Remember that Taylor also benefitted from a stable admin. DO is on its 3rd principal since Casey left and the long time principal retired; hence, it has been the third leader (and their vision) since the long-time principal, who was Casey's boss at DO. Different thoughts, different expectations, different visions. That's one reason he left. That pipeline was getting shut down and he knew competing without it wasn't happening. At least not for long. Your not totally off.No venom, just pointing out the hypocrisy. The facts are the facts.
Very good point. I think people don't realize that most districts are not top down in terms of athletics. From site to site the resources given and the expectations can be drastically different. Doesn't seem fair but that's how schools work.Remember that Taylor also benefitted from a stable admin. DO is on its 3rd principal since Casey left and the long time principal retired; hence, it has been the third leader (and their vision) since the long-time principal, who was Casey's boss at DO. This is a tremendous insight and hits the nail directly on the head.Your not totally off.
As I stated in a different post, blame can be spread around disproportionately depending on who the coach is and how strong his lobby is or how high up his friend group extends. I have seen some guys who's teams are stacked, and as soon as they lose, the apologists swoop in and blame (not so much the kids themselves) the disparity in talent. Serra case in point but there are others. When they win he's a genius and when they lose the other team was just better. Nice realm to operate in. Stacked deck.
Then there are other coaches who absolutely squeeze water from a rock just to eke out a few wins with minimal talent, and get ridden out of town on a rail because the people who assign blame (community, admin, etc.) either don't like the guy or grossly over estimate the available talent.
So in short, it all comes down to the evaluator. Not the reality.
