Ok, who has the 411 on Camarillo?

Bells O & Secondary showed up big time and left DO as the only SJS team left standing... Not bad for a team that "backed into the playoffs"...

DLS, Bells, DO... What's NorCals haul going to be this year?

Camarillo is loaded this year, they are big and fast......Camarillo is a top 10 team in the state, this is going to be a very tough matchup for DO.......but never count out DO

Looks like they have a dynamic QB. Jake Constatine. I was watching some film on him. Kid can really play. They are high octane. But its DO and they always seem to shock the world....

One of the SoCal guys on the National board referred to Camarillo as "a poor mans Centennial-Corona. Lots of offensive firepower but you can score on them."

Then you may have been @DO during Randy Fasani's last year @DO. Must have been fun to watch him.

Yep, I was on the team in '96-97. My first varsity year as a Junior. We didn't get the regional bowl, instead we got the first-round Oakdale mud bowl... Was certainly fun being a part of the Fasani years though, with ESPN film crews on campus and all the buzz (not to mention some very entertaining football...)

Watching Andrew Floor my freshman year was also pretty incredible if not a bit overshadowed by Fasani's years.

Finally got our Section title in '97-98 though... Thanks to Perk RIP...

Have not done much research on them yet and this is just a hunch but sounds like they may be a little undisciplined? Also not seeing any chatter on socal preps site about this game

Del Oro will be ready and they'll compete and they'll score, but will it be enough? I expect to see a couple of long Del Oro drives that eat up clock and help keep that Camarillo points machine off the field. They avg 48 per contest. Should be a great game. As well as the team and in particular QB Smartt's playing, I would not want to play Del Oro right now, plus schedule and tough games have them battle tested. Same for the Bell's, they are playing their best football of the season now as well.

Couple of links on articles of Camarillo for your reading pleasure:

Quite a few videos on Camarillo's MasPreps site. Based on the 1/2 dozen videos I've seen of them(all offense vids) they have a very good OL and a QB named "Jake". Their QB is very elusive and their OL gives him a ton of time to throw. When he throws he throws darts. Look like they like the underneath pass. Two good RB's #28 & #33 that look fast.

There QB is legit. I think for what it matters he's a 3 star recruit. (Jake Constatine). The kid can really throw the ball. His stats are pretty crazy. 73% completion. Over 3 thousand yards and 42 TD passes with only 5 TDS. I think somebody said it best. Looks like a version of CC without the crazy size and D1 athletes everywhere. They score but can be scored on. Lets face it though. Who is DO going to be scared of after playing their schedule? DO is 4-0 all time at Sac State according to Sac bee. DO always seems to amaze.

Practically a home game. And the way DO's families and fans travel there will be a huge turn out on the Golden Eagles side of the field. My experience both times they showed up to support their boys when they played DLS at Concord was that they are some of the best HS fans I have ever met over the years..........and that covers a shiload of games and supporting posses.

Good Luck Del Oro Golden Eagles..........

I don't know if they could beat Folsom, but TR is definitely right in that DO would have the confidence that they could beat Folsom right now. DO has a complete different offense than what they had when they played Bellamine or Folsom. By having DO'S quarterback run the read option, it has completely transformed DO'S offense. I keep on thinking that Smart is going to break in two, (he looks like he weighs a buck forty)but he keeps on getting up with more confidence. He runs a lot with the ball embraced in one hand which scares me to no end. I first started watching DO play football when Danny Hart was their quarterback. He ran the read option wonderfully. The read option has hurt Rocklin twice in section championship games. The DO fan's have been blessed with some good football at the end of this year and hopefully it will continue next year.

k-rick, was thinking same thing having seen DO play early in the season and now later -- complete (positive) overhaul on offense - doesn't look like the same team....gotta hand it to their staff, great turnaround.

TR thanks for the link to the vids

Wow, the QB is really good. Quick release and accurate but then again his name is Jake ;-)

Look which side they run on. The left side behind the big left guard and tackle. The left guard and tackle create huge holes that the RB can waltz through. Just impressed with that OL. I've not seen much of their defense yet but to be sure DO will have their hands full.

Scary part about this DO team is they are mostly Juniors. They have 7 starters coming back on Defense and 7 coming back on Offense including QB Smartt who has grown leaps and bounds the last few weeks. Burrage and Udoffia are big losses, but that many guys coming back with 16 varsity games under their belt. Those 6 Sophs who started last year will be playing in their 28th varsity game on Friday. It is going to be a tough chore again vs Camarillo, but never put anything past DO.

Always amazes me the production the coaches get out these kids. It is a testament to coaches and parents commitment to develop these young men.

The team is hardened and unafraid of the monster from the south coming to Sac State.

SMR good point - great production from lots of juniors who are now in a state bowl. Always say teams who get better thru the season are well coached teams. DO's O and D have kept rising - their D kept a great Liberty offense in check and their O has blossomed around their line play and quarterback who was a real difference maker. Saw a few of their JV games this year prior to varsity games and their sophs were also very good....another state contender next year?

Interesting thing is how Del Oro ends up playing a lot of young guys late in the year. They always seem to return a high number of starters. I think they started the year with 16 returners.

The teams that consistently go deep into the playoffs definitely have an advantage over teams that do not. It's the haves versus the have nots. I read here that 6 sophomores from DO are playing their 28th football game. That's almost 3 years of normal varsity football games and they still have one more season left. These teams also have the advantage of bringing up their sophomores and some freshmen who meet the age requirements and practice for another month and a half. This extra play is a huge plus for teams who are already considered better than average.

If Del Oro wins, I think home field advantage will be a big reason why. They should have the best cheering section there this weekend.

After filling the stands last week in Bakersfield I expect a really good and bigger turn out as usual from the DO faithful.

Hoping Udoffia is much closer to 100% Friday. He has not been an offensive factor is DO's last two wins. Will need him Friday to stretch Camarillos D.

Expect a good and close game if DO brings their A team which they have the past 3 games. I expect them to ratchet up the intensity. Crazy I'm not having to drive 400miles for this game but had to drive 300miles for a regional

Rick -- how early are you heading out for the game? I assume you'll be tailgating.

Also, I'm assuming all the NorCal teams will be the "home" teams as it was when SoCal hosted and we'll have the chairback seats. ;)

TR I'm planning to get out there around 2pm or so. Would be fun to do some gating with you and anyone else that wants to join. I may bring a football if you or anyone is interested in tossing a ball around if not raining. When are you planning to get there?

Looks like the NWS has revised the arrival of the rain tonight. More of the rain is going north of us looking like more of the game will be rain free.

I think the rain does not change DO's game plan much if at all.

Out here at Sac State and fans from both sides cranking up their TG parties.

Let's go DO!!

I also found out that DirecTV is airing the game on channel 696-1. At least that is what my guide is telling me. Its Bay Area Sports net
