Dublin over St. Francis

St Francis finished sixth of seven teams in the WCAL. Archbishop Mitty crushed Presentation tonight: 68-24. Presentation upset Carondolet last weekend in Concord. My monies riding on a read hot Monarch's team. It should be a good game.

Seriously, I always enjoy it when a team is performing at a historic level for their program. But after watching Mitty just utterly dismantle Presentation tonight, I don't see Dublin winning on Saturday. Even though Dublin is seeded #1 and Mitty #3, I think it would be a major upset if Dublin wins. At least given the history of the two teams, it would be a major accomplishment for Dublin to knock off Mitty at Arco.

There's no one who can march up on Moses period for AB. She's a d1 soccer player who can out run soccer players. Dublin needs to screen and get the ball to Moses and let her run. In a series, AB wins everytime. But in one game anything can happen.
You know, I'm really happy for Milan Moses that she's a D1 soccer player. Somehow that seems to make people think she has an advantage on the basketball court. It really doesn't. One of the kids I work with said he likes soccer more than basketball because you can rest more often in soccer. Think about it -- would you rather have a basketball team with D1 basketball players or D1 soccer players? Talk to me about the rest of the players on the Dublin team.
On a different note, Mitty has a senior starter who is a D1 field hockey player. Tell me how that compares to a D1 soccer player. Yes -- it's every bit as irrelevant.

Never said soccer players are better basketball players. Moses is faster and quicker than anyone on Mitty and basketball is her second sport.
She put up 37 on MM and there's no reason not to believe she can't do the same to Mitty.
Is field hockey a sport? It doesn't even compare to soccer, the most popular sport in the world.

Dude, she scored 9 against St Francis. Do you really think she will "put up 37" against Mitty? Not when Mitty has a field hockey player guarding her!
Dublin-Mitty should be a very good game. Although I really like Dublin and Moses, my feeling is that Mitty comes out on top, but not by much. Yes, Moses is a load, but Mitty has been here before, and i'm sure their team defense will be competent enough to get it done.

Maybe she had an off night vs. St. Francis. Even if Mitty contains her it will require a lot of defensive energy from some players which could hurt their offensive production later in the game. But in the end I do agree with you that Mitty should win but I don't think it will be by the margin you suggest.

I don't think she will score 37 either. She scores most of her baskets in transition and on layups.
If Mitty controls the glass and the ball she won't score much.
The rest off the Dublin team is slow so although they score many buckets on fast breaks with Moses and Finau most of the players on that team would prefer to play slow.

Please stop being the spokesperson for Dublin! from day one your assessment of the team the players and their ability has been flawed. I know parents on the team and their assessment of their team and your assessment is totally out of sync. So please stop being the Dublin cheerleader when your assessment of their talent is totally off! It's becoming a bit annoying, and please allow Malan to do her thing without all of your extra weight and pressure! You are not a spokesperson for Milan Moses nor the Dublin lady Gaels...

Hey I'm just supporting the team cold, I don't see what's wrong with that? I watched the Dublin play MM and against some other teams and I think I am right on as far as the talent assessment ....others on this board have chimed in also basically saying they are even worse (except Moses and Carrington) so I'm not sure what you are trying to say to me?
Parents often look through rose colored glasses and you have them on. Enjoy your team and don't worry about what others are saying . The only pressure the girls are feeling are from parents like yourself that are telling the kids what you are reading here.
It's a free country so I'll keep rooting Dublin on!

I don't get this comment at all ...
So someone comes on, says good things about your team, and you're upset that they don't say the right good things?
And really, message boards are about opinions and conversations, and if you have a different opinion, feel free to make your case. But a blanket condemnation of another poster, without any backup or alternate ideas, really doesn't accomplish much.
So what should be said about the team? It does appear, from the outside, that Milan Moses is the key to Dublin, though obviously there are other good players. Tell us more, tell us what you think and tell us why you think that way.
But ripping TriValley for supporting your team accomplishes nothing at all ...
Common opponent.....Fairfax. Dublin lost by a few, Mitty killed them.
MItty also beat Salesian and wiped out St. Francis twice.
MItty spanked us last year and return a bunch of players.
Mitty has multiple 6 footers, Dublin has one
Moses will have to have her best game ever for us to win. The other players just need to get her the ball, screen for her and rebound. Good luck.

I'm not so sure I would say Dublin is better than Mitty. But I will say Dublin has enjoyed a dream season. Two of Dublin's loses at the hands of Miramonte, a well coached over achieving team(IMO) that is still alive in the Open Division.
I think you are correct the post season/Championship edge goes in Mitty's favor. I also think Mitty has a coaching edge, and may have the better basketball players. However Dublin may be a bit more athletic.
The edge goes to Mitty, but upsets do happen.

i am just a fan of basketball and go to arco/sleep train every year to watch all the games, and i had been reading up on this stuff as a preview for today's game, and i'm interested in your take now, seeing as how mitty had #5 and #20 who both seemed to keep up with moses, as well as #11...5 and 20 are seniors, so i assume one of those two is the field hockey player, but it seemed to me moses was the one who got tired and 20 and 11 played as much as moses did and they wore her down...and 11 attacked her on offense, too, and definitely looked to be every bit as quick as moses...maybe you had more background on dublin than mitty, but it sure seemed to me like mitty had some athletes out there, too...but i was impressed by dublin's fight, i think mitty was just better...
