Eastside Prep 38 San Dominico 13

Re: Eastside Prep 38 San Dominico 19

San Domenico is a defense-first team, so a low-scoring game is not a surprise. But ESCP holding San Domenico to 13 points is incredible at this point in the season. Then again, maybe San Domenico had some injuries, as they are not a deep team.

San Domenico was good, and Fulton is a high level coach, but Eastside Prep is just a better team. The score is surprising, but Coach Blythe has those girls playing well at the right time. In my opinion, Coach Blythe doesnt get nearly enough credit for the job he does at Eastside.

How much more credit could the man get??? He's been called a genius and a guru, what more do u want said or done ?

Donovan

Dear "bayhoopfan" - as snaks5 has said below ---- and now me - you need to chill and "live a little while". Donovan is doing really good for himself and he's the last person who would ask for MORE pub or more notoriety especially while overcoming not one but two forms of life threatening moments in his life. So I personally ask you to sit back and enjoy this DB journey of life and athletic accomplishments. He and his wife and daughter are amazing people.

Anybody that knows Donovan, Marguerite and Britney during and through their various journeys in life knows that Donovan is a survivor and must not sweat the small stuff. His passion for "exactness" - with "exactly" being one of his favorite expressions - and his love of family and extended family love back to him is what drives him to develop boys and girls.

The silly little made up issue at San Mateo HS during half time of a game could have done him in....

He went on to work with wife Marguerite and run a Father Nick group home for boys as full-time live-in counselors - in San Mateo to continue to place kids on the right path in life whether sports related or Life related.

Thank you for the dissertation on Coach Blythe and his life. Didnt know that he had reached Elvis/ ESPN 30 for 30 status just yet. I was complimenting a coach whom I respect. Simple. In conversations that I either have or hear, the names that I hear more frequently are those of Sue Phillips, Doc, Margaret, Sopak. Coach Blythes name doesnt come up as often in those, so I simply stated my truth. Sorry that you and your cohort have an issue with that. I havent had the opportunity to read all of the materials that you presented, but your need to go into the life and times of Coach Blythe wasnt necessary, but thank you for sharing.

There are a lot of quality coaches out there, and certainly Donovan Blythe and Bryan Gardere are among them.

Many, however, are ignored because they don't have elite talent or they've never gone deep into postseason. Jim Lemmon at Castro Valley springs to mind, and Chad Wellon has done a great job at Acalanes in his short time there.

The other often passed-over group comes from the lower division schools (not the Eastsides, SMBs and Salesians, of course) who work anonymously with teams that are short on depth and talent (Erin Llewellyn of Emery is one) and don't have much of a fan base.

I don't think anyone should take it personally if their favorite isn't mentioned, as there are a lot more good coaches who never get any credit than there are who do.

You sound about 12 years old. All we were trying to say was: If your good, it is probably because you've Planned Your Work and Worked Your Plan. That goes for players, coaches and officials. Donovan now has a legacy and it has been forming since day one. No harm no foul but anybody here can tell how old you are because of your propensity to fight a well thought out post with sophomoric comments.

What would lead an adult to post an entire diatribe, bringing family, children, medical issues, etc. into a post complimenting a high school coach. Where is that necessary? I didnt need or necessarily want to know about issues, wife and children, etc. We're talking about high school girls basketball. Again, it's high school girls basketball. it's not curing cancer, it's not ending world hunger. He's not up for a Nobel Peace Prize. Its girls basketball. I sure hope that you're as intense about issues that really matter. There was zero negativity in my initial post. I gave a compliment. For the record, I dont have a propensity to fight well thought out posts with sophomoric comments; I have a propensity to fight overly dramatic posts. Then come the sophomoric comments. Wtbs, Good luck to Eastside and all the teams who are still playing.

Nice try Rook, but Donovan's fans (as I am one) are very proud of his accomplishments. Who helped your write the letter? All those items have been in the SF Chron, The SF Exam, The SM Daily Journal + on campus East Side Preps News letters.

Sweet.....Home Alabama!

Wow, you're really clever. Genius level clever! If all this came from complimenting the guy, I'd hate to see what you have in store for anyone who speaks ill of him! You sound more like one of Beyonce's "beyhive" fan club than an adult who follows high school girls basketball. Dont worry friend, I wont ever try to offend you by complimenting the guy again. To everyone else out there, beware Blythe's Bodyguard! I'm done with this topic.

Lol... by the way Donovan's birthday is tomorrow the 19th.

HAPPY B DAY

Thanks Rook. Happy birthday to "D". I bet Marguerite and Britt have something well planned out. It won't be the singer Brittany Spears....

Always thought BD was a June baby....must be slipping. Happy 56 Sir D.
