Elk Grove overcame a tough close to Q4 to win at Jesuit 53-51 in overtime to remain tied in the loss column with Sheldon in the Delta League.

Elk Groce got out to an 11-0 lead and led 29-16 at the half. Ameere Britton had 15 points in the first half and ended with 24 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Dajon Lott had six points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Jesuit was carried by Andrej Stojakovic, who is a really smooth scorer in the mid-range and finishing off drives and putbacks. Kai Wallin gave the Marauders a physical inside threat who matched up well with Lott. Junior guard Owen Ubaldo is another ball handler with some size.

The Marauders got back into the game with an 8-2 run to start Q3 and scoring the final six points of the third.

Britton is very solid I can’t believe no d1s have taken a chance on him. Stojakovich is become something very special. He has gone 31, 42, 28, 33, 43 and 35 in his last 6 league games.

Jesuit better enjoy Stojakovic this season.......

Similar to Isa he will be attending a Prep School next year, nearly guaranteed!

Yup. Big upside to that kid. He’s nearly 6”7 and doesn’t look like one of these 20 year old juniors. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him 6”8+.
Upside people….. ceiling.

His dad played in the NBA, his numbers are unreal, so having to go to a prep school doesn’t apply. If he does oh well. But I am pretty sure his last name and stats carry enough weight that dad may see continue to get your education, we are OK no matter what happens.

Agree. Play on a top level AAU team this spring/summer and he will be fine. Unless he’s really upset with Jesuit there is no basketball reason to move. It’s scary how close is jumper resembles dad. I think Only knock I have on him is defensively but peja wasn’t exactly lockdown defender. 😂. I do see his recruiting picking up major steam.

I laugh at all the prep school BS. I think it’s a joke to be honest. Back in my day they were there to make sure a kid got a 5th year in. Now they are basketball factories. Well, all the kids I watched and most on the floor at Arco Arena:

Klay Thompson
James Harden
Aaron Affalo
Jason Kidd(at St Joe’s, not Arco)
Trevor Ariza
Jeremy Lin
Jrue Holiday
Lonzo Ball.
Luke Walton

Now let’s add players that didn’t make the big dance.

Demar Derozan
Brent Barry
Gary Payton 1
Gary Payton 2
Juan Anderson
Damian Lillard
Russ Westbrook
Gilbert Arenas

I mean we can make a serious list of guys, this off top of my head. And these are guys who didn’t play for State but stayed at their respective high schools.

So quit the jumping to prep school. As a matter of fact when I hear kids jump, I laugh. Cause I know way more stars from high school than the prep schools in this state.

Hell Jesuit had and his name escapes my mind, had a nice little career and played for the Lakers. Damn I can’t recall his name.

Ending my rant, they will find you. I sat with Roy Williams and the Gooden family at El Cerrito high when Drew was being recruited. He didn’t need no damn prep school. He only made 75mil in the NBA.

If your that good they will come find you. My advice to any young player, live your life. Barry Bonds, Tom Brady, and Michael Jordan, Kobe and Lebron went to high school

I think we’ve crossed paths. I had pleasure of playing against several pros in late 80’s and early 90’s. Kidd, Barry’s, big kid from emeryville who was a bust, etc… I also went to virtually every state champ. I sat with Rick Majerus a few times. Not a better guy.
I can’t agree with you more. You think Ryan Anderson from OR needed a prep school? Hahah. He needed natural development and hard work. Shit kid was shooting buckets outside in summers.
Jesuit kid.. JJ Polk? Isaac Fontaine
Btw.. drew gooden was so good at el Cerrito. Raymond circus king!
loved there coach but I think he passed away a few years ago.
Juan Anderson was at Castro valley Hs for god sake. Played for a great coach and had 2 studs but let’s be real people.

The Emery High School “bust” was 6’11” Darnell Robinson. While he never made it in the NBA, he was a 2-time 2nd team All American at Arkansas, and won the 1994 NCAA Championship under the legend Nolan Richardson. He was the all time leading shot blocker in High School history, a McDonalds AA, and did play professional overseas for 5 years.

He may have been an NBA bust and not fulfilled the enormous promise most had for him in HS or even college, but he had some great experiences, and yes played 4 years of HS ball.

Busy is definitely not accurate for Robinson. Not fair to call any high school kid a bust if they don’t make it to the league even if you are highly ranked.

You base your ‘nearly guaranteed’ based upon what? IMHO your take is quite far from reality, nearly guaranteed.

He was a bust by any standard. What are you talking about! Keep in mind this was a time that big man ruled the roost. He had weight issues and never even remotely paned out to what he was. He won the ncaa tourney riding the coats of Corliss! He was a Hs legend at d5 emery. How many mcd all Americans at that time didn’t play in the league? Not many.. not many 6”11 with his resume. He was lazy.

Robinson's coach in Greece referred to him as "one of the greatest underachievers I've ever been involved with.”

I think he got fairly mislabeled in high school plsying against small schools. This was prior to the aau revolution where the top guys got to play each other year round and be evaluated. He definitely wasn’t ever in good shape.

Stojakovic should go to Prep school. He won't get the competition at Jesuit that he needs to keep developing. That's just a fact.

That argument is so overused.
Lonzo is struggling now nba because he played that senior year at Chino Hills. Your a kid only 1x. Enjoy a real Hs with classes that actually prepare you for academics in college.

What makes you an expert on what Andre Stojakovic “should do? Are you intimately aware of what his life goals are? The type of kid he is? What his priorities are? What he likes to eat for breakfast everyday? Do you think YOU are better suited to state what he ‘should’ do than say his NBA father (who grew up in Yugoslavia playing in a basketball factory since he was a kid, and going Pro at Age 15)?

I find it hilarious watching a bunch of ‘keyboard coaches’ thinking they know whats best for someone they don’t know anything about.

Having an opinion is one thing, but the way some of y’all make statements as if they are inarguable facts makes me laugh.

stay safe

It's an opinion! Right or wrong, I can state whatever I want. His parents will make the best decision.
