Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs Folsom Bulldogs

Will the Winner face De La Sall in Regionals?

No, they have a Folsom rule. Folson kept crying about how they couldnt beat De La Salle but could beat most anyone else so the suckered the CIF into letting DLS in every year so that they have a shot.

EG sure blew it the final drive with a chance to tie. Robards has been Mr. Everything all season, but overthrew a wide open Reinwald on a halfback toss pass that would have been a TD. Gotta put air under it and let him run under it.

The very next play a wide open receiver dropped a sure 1st down and possibly more. 2 plays later, they came up 1 yd short on 4th and 9.

They had their chance, but couldn't make the biggest plays of the game.

As for Folsom, Jeffrey was a monster again this week. Prior to the game, I said that EG was going to have to make enough plays in the pass game to keep Folsom's defense honest AND they needed to keep Jeffrey from going crazy like he did last week. They accomplished one but not the other. Jeffrey was fantastic.

They had a chance to get the ball back but fell for the hard count.

How do you know they cried? Were you there? I seriously doubt it. Nobody said Folsom would have a chance against DLS this year. Folsom had to replace 21 of 22 starters from the year before. Last year would've been a different story though. It would've been a much closer game than the years before.

Yes, it does. I thought Elk Grove was going to win this but am happy Folsom ended up pulling it out. Did anybody else see the long bomb that Folsom's Jeffries threw that seemed to bounce out of the receiver's hands into the defender's hands near the end? I thought maybe the receiver was trying to balance himself and lost it trying to make a Td. instead of concentrating on making the catch first. Did anyone else see it better than me that could answer that?
That was an unbelievable play. The QB threw a perfect ball which I believe was more than 50 yards in the air and the receiver was past the EG defender by what looked like 5 yards. Hit the kid right in the chest plate and right back to the defender. That Folsom QB really impressed me last night. He is making most of the D1 college throws and in windows that at times were tight. I was disappointed in Elk Groves Defense. Gave up a lot of 3rd down and 4th down and longs. That was the difference in the game.

Yes, last year a DLS/Folsom game would have been closer. Instead of say 64-20, it might have been 50-24.

How do you know it would have closer? Did you have a dream about it? Im not saying it wouldnt have been but cmon they were both different teams and we dont know what would have happened and we will never know. The fact that people are still talking about it is comical. It was suppose to be a better game the 2nd year and it wasnt. At the end of the day we will never know what would have happened.

He is always dogging Folsom on all boards. Folsom was much better last year than the previous year's. They had Jonah Williams, their 5* ol/dl which they also did not have the previous year's. He is a Folsom hater! This year, there would be no chance of Folsom staying close to DLS.

Thunder- is this true?

Don't pay any attention to jimmy. He's a long time Del Oro hater and is grasping at straws because they just won section despite his constant whining about their scheduling practices. He's calling me a hater because of my factual account of the Folsom-Rocklin game earlier this season that he didn't even see thus has zero frame of reference,

I've been among the few over the years that actually believes Folsom had a chance against DLS in both 2010 and 2014, yet, somehow, I'm a hater. Go figure.

Like I said, don't pay any attention. jimmy is a blowhard. He's the only knucklehead on either board to criticize Del Oro for their aggressive scheduling. That alone should tell you that he lives where the buses don't run.

BTW, my comment in this thread was a tongue-in-cheek jab at mtnjohn, who will tell you that DLS is a 5 TD favorite over any team in history. Any time the Spartans do lose, it was always the officials or some illegal recruiting tactic by the school that pulled it off.

Just a little background history for ya, since you're relatively new here. :)

Haha, thanks Thunder.

God bless.

Thunderram is such a Folsom hater on NorCal and national boards.

Per usual, you lack basic reading comprehension skills. You just quoted a response where I was clearly and intentionally misinterpreting mtnjohn's comment as a way of mocking him. It's quite obvious that you don't pay attention around here because I've constantly defended 2014 Folsom vs. DLS on numerous occasions.

While I'm by no means a pro-Folsom guy, I've also took to their defense on the National board against guys like Sammy Swordsman. You ever seen me refer to them as "the Devil" as everyone else there does? Nope.

This mtnjohn guy seems to only come on a thread that mentions Folsom. Is he a big fan?

God bless.

You could say that -- in jest.

He likes to pile on any team that the masses give a chance to challenge DLS. It used to be Grant Union up until Folsom came to prominence a few years back, now it's Folsom. He likes to pile on Sacramento area teams on the whole. He's just likes to stir the pot in general, that's all.

Several members of this site subscribe to the theory that mtnjohn, G61, and several other well know pot stirrers are in fact that same person using different handles with the intention of driving up traffic.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Thanks again Thunder.

God bless.

I have never dogged your Rocklin team and actually enjoyed watching them play when I lived close to SFL areas. You guys talk shit about them to try to convince people like DJ that their schedule is weak to drop them from top 100, just like Sammy dose, saying they are overrated crap. I'm tired of your guys shit.

Despite the typical derailing of the original topic (TG for the ignore button so I only see pieces of it) I thought it worth mentioning.....

Hats off to Elk Grove!! As expected, they came out and played hard from start to finish. Their boys played as hard as any team I have seen and their fans stuck with them right up until the final whistle. They worked their tails off to get to the finals and gave Folsom all they had.

As stated previously, we have some dear friends and some other "acquaintances" on the team through wrestling and mutual friends. As expected, the close friends welcomed us to the tailgate and wished us luck before the game, as did we. It was after the game that I was pleasantly surprised again. My son (young and somewhat naive) ran to their side of the field immediately after the game to say "Hi" to our friend (whom he hadn't seen before the game as he was with the team). Late last night he retold the story.....

"Dad, I swear those are some of the nicest people I have ever met! I wasn't really thinking when I ran over there..... I mean we had just ended their undefeated season?!, but I wanted to make sure I said "Hi" to Maaka! So I ran to the fence and people started saying "Great game kid!", "Nice job Folsom" "You guys brought it!"......I felt kinda stupid standing there getting congratulated by the people we had just beat? So I just said "Thanks" and shook a few hands and finally asked "Has anyone seen Maaka?" Sure enough, they say "Oh Yeah, he was right here! Where did he go?" "Oh there he is!" and I said Hi and he told me congrats and good luck next week and stuff"

It's not easy to keep your character in defeat, but Elk Grove does it. Despite the outcome, they played with class and handled themselves with great dignity. Nobody ever wants the label of "good loser" but these young men and their fans exhibit a true understanding of the fickle nature of HS football and the pride that comes with giving your all and coming up just short. I have always enjoyed (and dreaded) when Folsom competes against the Herd because I know those kids, coaches and community all work and compete at the highest level AND respect their opponents that do the same. We should all strive to support the efforts of our teams and their opponents in a way that shocks our kids! To show support for all the young men and coaches that make such tremendous sacrifices for only the approval of their peers, parents and community.

Here's to EG players, coaches and fans!! Looking forward to the next time!

Since St John Bosco lost to Centennial, I think they should play Folsom (or Bellarmine) in the D-1 SBG. They are by far better than any other option for the south.
