Elk Grove won game one of the SJS Division I finals 4-1 over Tracy. It will look to close out its third straight section title and fourth in five years on Saturday.

The Thundering Herd got the scoring started in the third inning against Tracy ace Cody Bolton with a Brian Freitas lead off double. He came into score on a fielding error.

Tracy got the run back in the fourth off Elk Grove's No. 1 pitcher Riley Lamb after loading the bases with no outs. Nathan George scored on a fielder's choice, but the Bulldogs were held to that sole run.

Elk Grove retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI double from No. 6 hitter Jake Jordan to drive in George Spithorst, who also notched a double.

The score remained 2-1 Elk Grove heading into the bottom of the sixth when Kenny Williams had a RBI single followed by a RBI triple from Jordan to score Spithorst and Williams respectively.

Lamb, signed to USC, threw a complete game six hitter with a walk and seven strikeouts. He didn't allow a runner past first base over the final three innings.

Bolton, signed to Michigan, gave up five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out nine. He retired the first six batters with three punch outs before a third inning double to Freitas.

These two teams will play on Saturday at 12:00 PM with a third game to follow if Tracy wins.
