Why are people on these boards obsessed with Chico St. ?
I wouldn’t say people are obsessed, however most know they have been plying pretty solid the last few years. I mean the article from 3 months ago speaks for itself

Because they would mop up USD all day long
Hahahah! Some of us love the program and a couple guys are joking around from time to time. I’m happy for anybody who gets a change to play at next level and getting a scholarship as well. This young man is a fine player. He will do well. One of Chico’s best players last couple years career started at Monterey. (Saint Mary’s of berkley kid)

Glad to see him get a spot at the next level. Big things are in this kid's future whether it's basketball related or not.

Basketball skills come and go. A person's energy and leadership is inherent to their being. This kid has it. Good luck moving forward Ameere.

why no D1?

why no D1?

I don’t think y’all get how difficult it is to go D1.

while I respect D2 and D3, I will repeat it’s not even on the same level as D1.

and as for the articles the old man keeps posting. I have read them, I think those rankings are trash.

You’re telling a former D1 hoops player that he doesn’t know how difficult it is to go D1? Interesting coming from the D1 mascot

i am well aware of it. i got the paperwork to show. but if i recall this fella is 6'9 or so? that alone can get you somewhere D1.

By the way I noticed USD has played San Diego Christian a few times. One season they played them about the 6th game of the year and beat the NAIA team by 10. So for you to think a D2 power can’t beat some D1 teams is comedy. That’s shows what you truly know. And it’s funny they schedule a NAIA team.

Hopefully for the old mans sake, they let expand the NCAA Tournament to 72 games and allow the top 4 D2 schools in.

So funny how you just can't let it go that the Hall is one of the few teams in the city that can lay claim to a State Championship. Every single argument you make seems to come back to the Hall, when at no point whatsoever did I use them as a comparison.

Look you played D1 basketball in the 90's. Congratulations. Its a completely different ballgame now, then it was back then. NIL deals. University Collectives. USD you say would lose to Chico St. Ha. We just signed Jaiden Delaire...look him up. We just signed a kid from Oregon and one of the top JUCO players in the Country in Bendji Pierre. If USD played Chico St next season I would happily bet you a couple bucks and give USD -30 against Chico St.

As for Seck, its not over yet. He could kill it at Hawaii and then transfer, or maybe even get drafted from there. He didn't start playing until he was like 15-16 years old. The game is still new to him. Probably won't be Wiseman-esque, but I still wish the kid nothing but the best. Like I said before, unlike you who seems negative all the time, I wish these kids nothing but success. And you can't teach 7 feet with athleticism, which is what he has.

What’s funny is he doesn’t realize there are a handful of former d1 players on every d2 powerhouse teams, Look at what newman had done at cal state San Bernardino. I mean the kid from Dublin who went to Montana and transferred to cal state San Bernardino was nothing more than a role player for them !!!

You know what upon further review I’ll give a little more respect to D2 and D3 players. It seems many this year are transferring to D1 schools. This used to not be a trend.

Btw I’d love for Wiz to tell me what team he cheers for. What team gives him the same feeling that the Hall gives me when they win games?

As for the Mascot comments, you know college isn’t cheap. You know schools pay you to mascot right? And I had a great time doing it. Don’t regret it one minute.

i still cant believe this man came on here and admitted he was a mascot......
but ima exit chat now. thoughts and prayers

Yall will never know what it’s like rushing the court after winning the WCC tournament and have your head fall off due to the crashing crowd.

You can keep your thoughts and prayers and use them for the old grumpy men on this message board. That type essays trying to explain to me the differences between D1 and D2 level basketball.

Seriously, so much hate yet we will always have the trophy that says state champs while most of your teams have won trophies that say state chumps!

Well I can answer you in a fairly simple way. For starters I went to SH, and had a affiliation with Riordan for a good 7 seasons. So during the season I am a all WCAL supporter. And will pull for any WCAL team that makes it to Nor Cal including S.I. I don’t get giddy over just my alum. Then from there I root for programs and coaches that I was on the other side of. Obviously all Wcal as noted, O’Dowd(Lou Richie is awesome), Miramonte where my buddy who taught me a ton loves being a assistant at, Branson where a good friend runs admissions and has had great runs, McClymonds and Oakland Tech, St Marys Berkeley where my JV partner at Riordan had great success although he is no longer there, and Salesian where my 2nd grader will end up going. I root for programs, programs with rich history, programs that have produced legit D1 players. I don’t have any horse in the derby, that happened when I started building friendships and huge respect for very knowledgeable coaches and many great players. And in closing many around my old man age with true basketball knowledge will always remember all the teams noted above, and will also remember Artesia, Modesto Christian, Bishop Montgomery, Santa Margarita, Price, Westchester, Fairfax, St Francis, Palo Alto, Dominguez, Mater Dei, Oak Ridge, Branson, University San Diego, Alemany, Horizon, Centennial Compton, not Corona, and many other great teams, and future NBA greats that today due to the pathetic way the CIF system currently is, we will never see again. Nobody my age and who has been involved deep in high school will remember one hit wonders like Chaffey, Venice, and Scripps Ranch. And you take that as hate towards your alum, it isn’t hate, it is flat out fact.

if you dont put some respectk on crenshaw name!!!!!

Ok so why all the hate for Stuart Hall, which is a smaller program who has had great success over the entirety of the program(20+ years)?

It’s not like we pop in from time to time. We have had sustained success which included a win over SH last season. Granted you didn’t have RJS and if you did the outcome is probably different. But I would expect someone with the vast basketball knowledge you have to have a little bit more respect for Stuart Hall.

When SH won the D4 football title last year or whatever it was, was that a fake Championship also? I don’t think so.

if you don’t win the Open in football then you have won a “bowl game” not a state title

its sort of like the golden state warriors effect... we dont hate the team, we hate the fans.

You take your experience and others experience and amount it to being hate. It’s not hate, it’s fact. It’s reality.

And as a SH alum and huge fan of Coach McClauglin, great they got a banner as well. But a banner against a 9-7 team, sorry but that doesn’t make me go crazy like winning the Bruce Mahoney does

i hate both. Give me back the days of Adonal Foyle. I'm happiest when bay area sports are down.
I bump into Adonal from time to time at a great Chinese food spot in Lafayette. One time when my kid was about 2, and Adonal recalled me from being around, I said can my son take a pic with you. Man he picked him up like a basketball. Great dude, about as nice as it gets.
