ODOWD can't play any better. I've seen them several times this year and it's all clicking.

Coach Lou Richie has his team ready to play tonight. They are executing well on both sides of the ball. Paris is by far the best guard on the floor. Ivan is so tough, but Alex Zhou had a great half for a role player.

For all those who question Coach Richie and his ability I offer tonight's game as exhibit A. Many claimed O'Dowd would "know they were in a tough fight"... Not so much.

I don't believe Jordan Ford gets enough credit and gets positioned as clearly as the linchpin for Folsom. Sure they need to hit shots but Jordan needs to run and own the floor. I'm not sure I've seen a kid of his caliber (possible 2016 Mickey Dees AA) less identified with the success of his team. That not a knock on anyone or anything but just a statement. It's likely an easy comment to say O'Dowd brings a more athletic team in a more friendly environment but I felt, all along, Ford held the keys to Folsom's chances.

I KNOW they were supposed to win. I'm just saying many claim Lou can't coach and overestimated Folsom's ability to "hang in there" and "make it tough"...
The only coaching staff to question are the Folsom guys. All that talent and they just never played to their potential. Not just tonite. They are loaded and are just a good team.
Well let's see. Paris played a very atypical game against SF and clearly needed a COACH to get him in a position to play the game his team needs. Lest I feel completely lost, it sure appeared like Paris restored himself and played the way he's capable of in a very big game. No game this year pitted two higher caliber guards against one another and Paris flat out showed up. Given all the armchair wunderkinds (check out my synonyms Zo, cause I'm learning with my advanced age) who claim to know enough about coaching to assail someone from the sidelines, tonight should easily help them see what's real.

I belive I said all along I would be surprised if anybody plays odowd within 10 pts in the playoffs. They made a statement from the start and it was clear who was the better team. Besides Degoura Folsom couldn't hit a basket. I mean they got some good looks too but give credit to where its due. BOD is a great team. A nationally ranked team and every bit as good as I've seen around here in a long time.
Modesto Christian will be a better matchup than Folsom was. You have Townes who goes 6"7 but plays like he's 6"10 and 3 excellent athletic guards with size. 6"2-6"3. WU/Ellis. You got a 6"9 athletic big, This is a talented team. At least 3 D1 players currently.

Larry there is no chance that Modesto can play with O'Dowd. Matchups? Yes Modesto has 4 good players and 2 of them are big. But they will get run out of Sleep Train. They have 4 players and O'Dowd had a team full of good players. This game is just another step to where BOD wants to go.

I said they match up better. Nobody is doubting ODOWD going to state finals. I'm certainly not.

Sometimes this board is trash, it started last year when everyone disrespected Paris Austin and said he was not the best pts guard in norcal. We'll obviously he didn't take that to well.Last week Lou Ritche was worst coach around! Lol! Embarrassing. Some guy said Ivan doesn't show up in big games. I guess 28/20 against Gorman doesn't count. Love Folsom, love their guys but they had no chance, Rabb vs Russell? Cmon man give me a break! Like I said the improvement of Isiah Thomas has been insane. Another level indeed, did anyone bother to look at schedules before these predictions?
I have to agree with passfirst and TheNewPea. There was shade thrown at Coach Richie and Ivan, and unrealistic predictions of Folsom's "fight". As I pointed out Lou is a greast coach! Coaching talent is not easy, and getting studs to respect role players as equals is a strength of Lou. The role players for O'Dowd show up consistently in big moments over the years and produce in key moments like Zhou did last night. Austin Walker battled Ford all night, and Hardy, the talented frosh guard has been taught how to reign in his immense talent, and play within a system. The board gushes over Richard Midgely and with good reason. He is a very good coach, with a very good team. I expect a better coach and team to win Saturday.
I mean getting talented players to buy into a team first mindset, and use their talent within a system is NOT easy. Some coaches would have a tendency to ride the two studs, without developing the whole team, and Lou does not fall into that trap. I'm only trying to make sure Lou gets the credit he deserves, not LESS than he deserves. I have said it before and I will say it again. IMHO there are coaches who seem to do no wrong, while others can do no right. Some coaches and programs are lauded at every turn, and most of the time with good merit. Other coaches and programs, with similar or better track records and bodies of work, can be villified or have shade cast on them. I guess it is all in how you want to spin things. I feel ridiculous having to defend a coach like Lou and a program with such great kids, but if you look closely at certain comments, you should be able to understand the sensitivity...
Great team win for the Dragons and coach Ritchie. I think they will be get tested by Modesto Christian but will still come away with the W but there real only major test will come in the state finals, BM, MD or Fairfax.
Most of you obviously werent at the game last night. If Folsom shot closer to 60% rather than 25% it woulda never left single digits. Yea they are on a different level, doesnt mean that Folsom would have never beat them. Folsom just had to make minimal mistakes and control the only thing they could control and thats shooting.
I'm really puzzled by all those ODOWD closet fans that are coming out now. Did anybody say that they thought Folsom would win? I certainly didn't. I said all along that I didnt think a team would come within single digits. I was front and center last night and like I stated it was the best performance I've seen from Odowd this year. Period. Austin shoots 8-11 from the floor and 4 of 4 from 3? Or was it 4 of 5? Who knows but I'm willing to bet Odowd shot close to 60% as a team. Maybe better. Probably another 80% from the line. You aren't going to beat them or even play with them when the are like that. Big Asian kid comes off bench and scores 9 in first half??? Really. I bet that was his best 1/2 of the year.

The argument I keep seeing on here is like Lebron James winning an NBA title and everyone moaning about getting the credit he deserves. Stop it. He is the best player in the NBA.
