Folsom had 7 players from their championship team getting D-1 scholarships and will have some more players going D-2 or lower divisions. Also another player will walk on to play for his uncle at Utah.

Simply an amazing senior class. I was sad to see them go! What a run!

State Champs 2014!

State Champs 2014*! ;-)

At least Folsom beat De Salle at recruiting this year. 7-2! And what happened to Anderson and Sullivan from De La Salle?

Yeah there wrere very special indeed. We might not see anything like that in a very, very long time. (around SJS) And in terms of Browning you might never see anything like that again. Those #'s are simply incredible.

Congrats to them and their families.

I am excited to see how Browning does as a freshman up there at Washington. It could be an exciting time up there with Browning in Chris Peterson's offense. Looking forward to it!

I think Browning will be a very good player under Peterson. To me there is no "clear" cut starter coming back. I really do think it could be his job if he "wins" it. You look at what Goff has done for CAL and no longer are the days where a young kid has to hold a clipboard for 2-3 years. I also think guys like Creason and Hendricks will be very good college players. Creason has a chance to play for what should be a top 10 team in Arizona as well.

But the kid who might have the highest ceiling of them all is coming back next year for Folsom. The big lineman who has SEC offers and they should keep pouring in.

I know he is one of last remaining "rocks." He is going to be a hit in college!

Jimmy- Will you please list them so they get the credit they deserve.

I have a concern with Sam Whitney greyshirting at Boise State. I think Sam wanted to go to a bigger program then Sac State which was his only other offer. I think Sam is a terrific talent, but there had to be some reason no other schools were willing to take a chance.

Look at Jordan Thomas class of 2014 from Inderkum high school. He greyshirted with Arizona State when a player dropped in there lap at the last minute. They didn't have an available scholarship for this player so they decided out of all the committed players that year, they were going to greyshirt Jordan. This year rolls around and they pull his scholarship because he no longer fits in their plans. He is now committed to Sac State as of yesterday. He lost out on a whole year of playing football.

I don't like the idea of greyshirting and many colleges don't like using it. There are many drawbacks with greyshirting a player. It is basically a delayed redshirt. They don't report to Fall practices with the team and cannot participate in any team functions. I just hope Sam doesn't get caught up in a numbers game like Jordan did, because Sam could have gone to Sac State and made an impact as a true freshman.

And G61, even with all the D-1 recruits you have to figure DLS would have still rolled Folsom if they had played this year. I was sort of looking forward to going to my third DLS/Folsom game and seeing the Spartans win by 3-4 td's.

MTNJOHN- I think if any of a year this would have been a better game. I watched both teams a lot and I would give edge to DLS 42-24. Folsom was much improved on the line and Defense. I think the missing link would have been a receiver with breakaway speed. Folsom lacked that piece this year. Otherwise this would have been a good game.

But DLS is still DLS.

Jimmy never listed all 7 D1 players from Folsom. Can anybody else list all 7. Impressive!

1. Browning - Washington
2. Creason -Arizona
3. Deguara - Cincinnati
4. Hendricks - San Jose St.
5. Laolagi - UNLV
6. Thompson - Harvard
7. Whitney - Boise St.

And 8. Whittinghan will walk on to play for his uncle at Utah.

Their LB Crandall will play D-2 and several others should play for D-2 or lower Colleges.

Ditto that,,,,,it's always fun to watch kids you saw play locally take it to the next level. When I first got married I had a friend drag me over to a high school gym in Alameda and watch this b-baller at St Joe's, Jason Kidd....he was GOOD.....
Appreciate the opportunity to get that rare experience.

How about my man Degoura from Folsom going to Cincy! I raved about him all year. How did this kid not have more offers? He has good size and runs great routes. Cincy is a great school and plays a very good schedule. Hell they got to play OSU last year and lost to VTECH in Military Bowl. Too bad he got away from lower Pac12 schools.

BTW, I just like him. Don't know him or family but I do know when I see talented kids. Hard work pays off. He is also the big missing piece on their hoop team that they didn't have early on.

@larry legend33 ......if he's a decent basketballer maybe the Bearcats' Basketball coach will be taking a look at him. They always rep the AAC pretty well and are playing good ball right now.

@Larry Legend, to use a basketball reference, Josiah Degoura was a 'tweener. Talking with a couple of analysts concerning him, they felt he lacked the speed to be a WR and the size to be TE. That could be a reason why many of the Big 5 schools didn't show interest. They had a problem figuring out where to use him. Plus, not playing on both sides of the ball, scouts couldn't gauge the type of underrated athlete he truly is.

Besides Jonah Williams, are there any other class of 2016 player on Folsom that could end up being recruits? How many D1 recruits will Folsom end up having from their 2014 State Champ team? Besides Jonah, I haven't heard of any other underclassmen that are being recruited?

DLS's 2014 team could wind up with more then a dozen D1 recruits because of their strong 2016 class led by Devin Asiasi, Boss Tagaloa, and Antoine Custer. The team with the most D1 recruits in the SJS recently was either the 2010 Grant team (strong senior, junior, and sophomore class) or 2012 Pleasant Grove team. Each ended up having around 15 D1 recruits total. But Folsom's 7 D1 recruits in a single year is very impressive.

Passion- I agree with you about the "tweener" thing. He's about 6"2 maybe 6"3 so he's not that 6"4-6'6 tight end that they love. Doesn't have 4.4-4.5 speed. But let me ask you this. Can the kid just flat out play football? Hell yes. At what point do we over analyze these things to death. I've seen so many good players get overlooked and so many athletes get over hyped during my career. Not to beat the dead horse. I'm happy for him.

As for hoops he could play D2 no problem. Not a D1 player. And theres nothing wrong with that.

Jonah WIlliams just might be one of the biggest recruits we have seen since guys like Armstead. He will be a 5 star come end of Summer.
