Foundation games

Campo is hosting St. Pat/St. Vincent, that’s where I’ll be…

But I would assume the sexiest matchup for most would be DLS hosting O’Dowd.

Might wanna look into GoFan to assure entry at DLS unless you show up before halftime of the JV game.

What does BOD have in the tank after losing Lewis, obviously a big loss, heard they have a young team

No clue what the Dragons have this year, but they practically never suck.

You know lou will have the dragons ready to play no matter who they have.@kiddman32 since you follow the cougs pretty closely what injury is mahaney dealing with?

Hip flexor strain. Dunno how bad it is nor what his timetable is. Might be able to play Saturday, might not. Fortunately, the Cougs are so good and so deep, they should be able to weather the storm.

Cougs won the frosh and JV games by about 40 points each…. Might be a tough year for SPSV hoops in 2021-22.

Varity squads warming up…. Looks like we’re sitting Aidan Mahaney for this one, too. Anothr guy (Johnson, I think) is in street clothes, too…. I don’t believe I’ve seen him play unless he was on last year’s outstanding JV team.

Hopefully, SPSV’s varsity can provide stiffer opposition than the frosh and JV’s did…

Last year’s leading scoring scorer (Jaden Alexander) for SPSV has graduated…. They’ll miss his 30+ points per game.

Half ends with Robeson catching iron on a three-quarter-court shot at the buzzer…. 23-19, Cougs in front.

Very physical ball game. Athletic, aggressive Bruins playing really hard D. If they had the offensive firepower to match, they’d be really hard to deal with…

Actually, they are now. They’ve sped up the Cougs a little, causing a number of turnovers. And the open bombs the Cougs usually feast on have been hard to come by.

Time out Cougs after Robeson nails a 3 to make it 34-27, 4:15 left in the 3rd.

Bennett takes a charge…. Offensive rebound and score by Radell…. and he gets into a held ball the other end! 38-27. Blackmore with a J for SPSV…. 38-29, then a steal and score…. 38-31. Cougs bal, 2:16 left 3rd.

3-ball good for SPSV, then they force a travel underneath. 38-34. Cougs get a stop, but can’t get it across in 10…. 1 min left 3rd. SPSV scores on a putback, then frce a turnover…. that’s the end of 3. 38-36, whotta dogfight! Cougs by 2.

Big run by SPSV to start the 3rd…. time out, 44-40 Bruins with 6:37 left.

Blackmore nails a corner 3 after a gorgeous Coug backdoor cut layup…. 5:51 left, 47-42 Bruins.

47-45 after a Yasugochi 3….

Maderos nails a SPSV 3.

50-45 SPSV, now 50-47 after a Bennett short J.

Cougs get a stop, 1:50 left.

Radell with an old-school hook…. 50-49.

Maderos answers…. 52-49. Radell again inside, 52-51. 54.5 seconds left, time out! SPSV ball at their own end.

Cougs get a stop!! Bennett for 3, GOOD!!!

Cougs lead 54-52, 16.2 seconds left.

Bennett almost causes a turnover…

out of bounds to SPSV…. Cougs had a foul to gve, and took it with 5.5 seconds left.

The coaching wheels are a-turning like it’s a playoff game…. One time out taken by each.

Yet another TO taken. Some real stuff happening for a foundation game…

BENNETT STOLE THE BALL!!!!!!! BENNETT STOLE THE BALL!!!

Shades of Havlicek…. Cougs win!!

De La Salle beat BOD by 9 tonight. Low scoring defensive classic DLS type of game. Both teams were young, and after not being able to see much hoops last year due to Covid, I hardly recognized anyone on either squad. Frosh center (Blair) for DLS looks like he’ll be a good one.

Few more scores from last night:

Wood beat Natomas 47-40
Moreau Catholic beat Mt. Eden 54-54
Gregori beat Franklin-Elk Grove 59-43

When was the last time Mahaney was healthy ?
Mahaney played in six of Campo's 15 games last year, would have been more 'cept for that freak backboard incident where he cut up his hand up there somewhere.

He also played in at least one stretch of summer/fall ball, I think... I don't watch that too much, so don't quote me. :)

Another NCS Foundation game from 11/23

Sonoma beat Santa Rosa 81-53

#20 Girish and #25 Breal looked really good for Sonoma

#15 Hansen for Santa Rosa had a nice game...surprised to find out he was a sophomore (unless their roster is wrong)...played very composed for a young guy new to varsity.
