Lots of surprises and two upsets in the Friday night round tonight...Marin Catholic seems to come up with what's needed or to win, either out scoring or tough defense....The Picks did not go well, California 's defense could not get together, MC pulled off a big upset and so did Middletown, but still a great night of football..

Freedom 35 California 34..With less then a minute to go, The Grizzlies went for a two point PAT and it failed. Freedom would not let up, California stayed with them, but could not turn the corner, so the Falcons gain revenge for the last 42-27 loss they took from California.

Yeah, the closeness of this game really wasn't due to Moreau's defense. San Marin's first two scores came by returning the opening kickoff for a TD and a pick 6. Plus they blocked a punt and recovered it for a TD in that fourth quarter. Fresh Ison had 396 yards on the ground, which was a good thing since the 3 interceptions Moreau gave up (part of a four turnover night) combined with the terrible job they did on special teams (missing a couple of PAT's, giving up long KO returns including a TD and the punt block) could have been a disaster.

Rancho starting QB was out the whole game on concussion protocol. He had one day left to sit out before being allowed to play.

Sounds like the Freedom-Cal game had a wild finish. Freedom scored to break the tie with a minute left to apparently win the game. Cal then marched down to score with 15 seconds left, but missed the 2 pt conversion to try to win rather than kick to tie. Cal then recovered the onside kick and got into FG range in the final 15 seconds but missed, sending Freedom to the finals vs SRV next week.
