Future State Championship sites

Notes from CIF Meeting today:

For 2017 and 2018, the CIF is down to three sites for the state championship weekend.

It is down to these sites:

Golden One Center (new Kings Areana)
Galen Center at USC
Viejas Arena (San Diego State) for one year and Valley View Arena (San Diego)

Cal did not make a bid.

The final announcement will be made at the state finals.

The plan is to put eight teams in each Open Division bracket.

There is also talk about moving up the sports calendar starting in the 2018-2019 season to mirror the regular school year.

Pretty hard to argue with San Diego.

Too bad Cal didn't make a bid as that was a pretty sweet venue for the finals last year. It didn't hurt that there were many great games. Much better venue than the dump that is Sleep Train Arena. Hopefully the new Sac arena hosts the state finals as San Diego is quite a trek for us NoCals. A fair compromise would be to alternate between North - South every year.
