While we wait for the post of POY..... Should be clear cut Jasir Rencher. Reaching out to the city folks to name their top 5 players of all time for the Purple and Gold! I am assuming Restani is clear cut the best.

Top 5 (no particular order):
Dwayne Fontana
Kevin Restani
Chris Munk
Wayman Strickland
Jasir Rencher

Honorable Mention:
Ray Kelly, Jaha Wilson, Rob Jones, Marquis Kately, Tofi

Where is Terrance Mullins?

Kevin Restani
Alton Byrd
Brett Crawford
Terrence Mullins
Marquise Kately

HM: Fontana, Ray Kelly, Wayman Strickland, Jaha Wilson, Tofi, Munk
Terrence Mullins that right.... No one has Jasir Rencher on the list. Not a surprise New era vs Old Era. never saw Brett or ALton. All the others. A storied program. Great to see a City Catholic in forefront of NorCal

Kevin Restani. Saw him at USF. He held his own against everybody he faced.

When you ask this question you truly have to look at what came after.

Kevin Restani made NBA money.

Terrence Mullins unreal player had great success at Oklahoma.

Erik Newman, don’t slip on that guy. He was an unreal player. Ended up at St Mary’s, he was pretty darn good.

Let’s move a little later past those guys.

Dwayne Fontana was the nor cal player of the year when Kidd was playing in Alameda.

Ray Kelly, incredible point guard along with Wayman Strickland. Dynamite guards.

Jaha, what more needs to be said. He was a beast hands down.

I can’t speak on Brett Crawford never heard much info about him or Alton Byrd.

But I can speak on Marquise Kately. Katley is like how LeBron James would explain Lenny Cooke. He had every skill in the game. He fed the ball in many moments to Tofi and others. But when the game was on the line he wanted the ball in his hands. And at the state title game after his knee was rolled over and he told Rich Forslund I am not coming out, he blew by and sealed a state title.

He could shoot from elbow to elbow like no other. You fed him on the post he had an unreal fadeaway or drop step. And he could jump out the gym and smash it on dudes.

I know some may I am biased. But let it be understood. We didn’t have this BS state ranked 154 playing versus 237 in division games. The best played the best. Therefore how many schools in my hometown have state titles at the highest level of basketball.

The 2002 Riordan team would blast many of these teams that earn their way to Sacramento these days in all divisions. They had heart, drive, determination and overcame major adversity after SH for a minute owned them yet bounced back after hitting the road to Redding and then Sac walking thru damn metal detectors at Foothill High. That team in my opinion is one of the best WCAL of all times. Could have folded. Yet the one thing folded is their banner sitting somewhere in the school.

Alton Byrd was a good outside shooter, before the three-point line. He went on to play at Columbia.
