Has Campolindo EVER lost a close game in the last 3-4 years? They have won many more nail biters than I have fingers and toes combined.... Guess it doesn't hurt to be well-coached & having the Mahaney Bros up until this year! Growing up on the mean streets of Moraga & Orinda doesn't hurt either.
They lost a close one to Modesto Christian in the NorCal Open Finals last year 56-53. The team arguably had its worst shooting game of the season and it still wasn't decided until the last shot from Mahaney that went in and out to send it to OT. A great game!
So well coached and people are foolish if they think Modesto Christian is going to cruise thru the sections and norcals. This is HS basketball and chemistry, effort, and a few good players still go along well. From what I’ve seen, Mitty , Folsom, Inderkum, Riordan, Jesuit, etc are going to give them all they can handle. I mean Oakland high lost by 8.
Definitely agree. I remember talking to Derek Swafford when he was at Sac High and commenting how his team was built to go on a state run. And he just said,"it is still 16, 17 and 18 year olds going up against other 16, 17, 18 year olds. Nothing is for certain."
Streak, I’ve played and watched hoops for a long time and I’ve seen some crazy things. I’m not saying that formula wins against Centennial but for one game anything is possible.
I really like coach swafford. He was a real character and loved his kids.
