Ila Lane has a great first season at UCSB

yup. She proved a lot of doubters wrong including myself. Good on her. I hope she can continue her success as UCSB continues rebuilding

I never saw her in HS but watched her live this season for the first time and was so impressed with her! Rankings don't mean squat...production does. And this young lady flat out produced all season. Best of luck to her the next 3 years.

Great to hear about and post her successes. Hopefully she’s happy at UCSB and doesn’t transfer out.

at 6'4 and winning the D3 player of the year... She was not a scrub by any means... why is anyone surprised??!?!
saw her play a few times against higher level competition and came away thoroughly unimpressed. But again, the sample size was small. I did not draw a hard line in the sand on my stance. I am genuinely happy she is doing so well.

I never saw her play much but when I did see her play I felt like she was getting better every year. I liked what I saw from her.

Played eight games last year. Mostly early in the year.

Not sure if she got injured or not

Another Big West player with local roots, Carolyn Gill from St. Mary's (B), was honored with the league's Hustle Award as a small forward with Cal State Fullerton. The scrappy junior was a major factor in elevating the Titans to their best overall record, 17-14, in 29 years. Gill's honor was well-deserved.

Looking at the big picture, California is a gold mine for female basketball talent, not to mention talent in every other sport. It has been said that a recruiter from the Midwest or East Coast could rent an apartment in downtown Fullerton or Anaheim and spend all of his or her time evaluating young female athletes just in Orange County alone, not to mention the other Golden State kids who come through there for tournaments, playoffs, etc.. There is some truth in that.
