Irish beat SI

They didn't play bad against the Bells last week either...they were firing on all cylinders growing and playing as a team...Hope as 5matchUp said, they can gain some momentum beating their nemesis. Flowers seems to be getting better every game and Oscar Chang looks like he is coming along getting valuable minutes too.

I am shocked that SI lost to the Irish. Not sure what's happening with SI as they have a lot of talent but apparently not a lot of chemistry.

Bryce Monroe is the real deal. Played extremely well and made some really tough shots. The difference between last night and the Bruce game was the Irish supporting cast showed up. Emmett Neal and Hudson shot the ball really well. Trammell played well for SI as did their big Snyder. It was a tie game with 1:30 to go and SHC did everything right and SI did everything wrong in the final possessions. Great win for the Irish and. Great high school game to watch.

Talk about teams moving in different directions. Watched SI vs. Mitty and SI played with a lack of enthusiasm, passion, leadership. They looked very tentative and Mitty was super aggressive and winning most 50/ 50 balls. Very strange as SI has 3 senior guards that have played varsity for 3years.
Mitty is hitting their stride at the perfect time, while SI seems to be trending downward. Still sometime to correct things before Playoffs. The WCAL is so balanced this year, whichever team is more aggressive and wins the hustle plays, win the game.

Things have gone sideways for the Cats ever since they lost to Mission in NorCal semi final; their true opportunity to advance to State. Yes, they had everybody coming back which honestly should have been enough. Playing in Taiwan against very good teams also gave them confidence. Then bottom fell out with late transfer of a kid they gave a lot of money to attend S.I. He took athletic space, and made all their other pre-Olympic Club suburban bigs serviceable. Throw in injuries to the tall skinnys and everything was put on shoulders of veteran guards who Marceletti had been grooming for past three years - all he needed was a force in the paint. After a few losses, the players stopped playing like a team, making demands, and more get what I can to get my looks for potential college. They still have enough senior experience to pull it out, but are they truly going to put the effort in now that the shine is gone? Losing the big man before the season hurt. But if they have heart, season still salvageable.

In recent history, SI usually wins the BM game and SH wins the 2nd game. Injuries to key big men that provide valuable minutes has been the bugaboo this year for SI. They still have a really well-rounded/experienced/ trio with Trammell, Beckman, Redmond who have played on varsity since sophomore year. Add Robinson and Begovich and I'm really not sure why they arent on top of the WCAL this year. I suspect tanking to assure not being placed in Open for NorCals. Is SI in D2 or D3 this year?

WCAL is a tough league . Where does the thought process of" anyone can be beat on any given night"? Just a thought. Tanking in high school? They were winning last night with 2 or 3 minutes to go last night . They opened up last night winning. Give credit where credit is due , Sacred Heart came out with a never give up attitude which was refreshing. It was a great team effort all the way down line. The offense goes through Monroe which allows Neal and Hudson open jumpshots and driving lanes. More importantly Sacred Heart played some inspiring defense down the stretch. People forget in the 1st meeting there were a few questionable calls down the stretch and St. Ignatius made huge shots to pull it out. Sacred Heart has played everyone tough . They were one shot away from beating Bellarmine.Every night in the WCAL is a dog fight. Look at Mitty , nobody wants to play them right now!

Agreed and SHC has a win over Mitty under their belt. SHC was in every game except the Bells game at Bellarmine. Big swing when they were at home against the Bells when a player got fouled who was their best freethrow shooter but couldnt shoot the freethrows because of an injury. Went to the bench and the sub misses both and the Bells come down and go on a quick 5-0 run. Remember this team returns everyone next year and alot of big time seniors from other teams will be gone which could catapult them as tops in the league.

I suspect tanking? Iamgearyblvd you’re too funny, or just a hater.
Man where’s SI gonna be next season? Where’s SHC gonna be next season? Monroe tourched Trammel and SI last night. Kids a Soph and nobody can guard him, nobody. Hudson, Amin, Flowers and EJ all stepping up and yes the big Soph kid slowly but surely showing signs of improvement. SHC should be in top Half of league next season. I bet SI tanks the last 5 league games iamgearyblvd comical. Great game Irish.

I'll rephrase. Positioning. =)

I predicted SI preseason would be a shoe in for Open Division for NorCals given what was coming back this year and their finish last year. However I dont believe they would beat the perennial powers in Open. Winning the WCAL will almost assuredly place them in Open. League is starting to wind down and its clear the race is between Bellarmine and St. Francis. Mitty is making a push but too many losses at the beginning and its proven SI quite doesnt have that killer instinct vs. Bellarmine or St. Francis. So what do you know, the silver lining is, if we arent that good (its ok to have a few more losses) we'll just be in our natural division and play teams that arent Open bound that SI has a better chance of beating.

No one will ever admit to positioning themselves to have a better draw but we know it happens on ALL LEVELS. Yes, even in the NBA. Still have the play the games ultimately.

As for next year, it is always we will see. SH will need to replace Olgesby and the toughness he brings inside. I dont see anyone on JV's that will help out this situation. Crossing fingers MacKay brings in some muscle from the East Bay.

Rivals don’t tank games. FACT! Good win ☘️ Irish

So SI is all about positioning now, so your theory is they lose last 5 league games? Or they chose to lose against SHC a city rival. Absurd.

What was your prediction for SI this year? I think 5 losses look likely. They should win the last 3 and only have 4 league losses. Regardless how many, they will be in Open Division in CCS as #3 seed.

Question, is there anyone on this board other than Kiddman not knocking kids or programs. He is borderline carrying? Wow

Perhaps you are being a little sensitive about your team as that is not much of a knock, if it is even considered a knock. Worse things can be said about a team that is 3-6 in league, and does not seem to have grown much from YOUR post and comments last January.

Quoting from you, "The coaching staff if being honest with themselves should really assess themselves and their purpose. Just giving the ball to Romello and watch him dribble is not the key to success. I sure hope they have a good second half of league. 0-3 start in league"

Seems like history is repeating itself and a little self-assessment might help the coaches and team get to the next level. . .

Not being SENSITIVE AT ALL, my comment just came after Simply basketball posted a high light reel and someone posted a negative comment. As usual another negative comment followed. So your comment doesn't apply. What is stating Sacred Heart league record have to do with it ? They are over .500 for the season. They beat St. IGNATIUS which is how this post started! Most comments are about what St.I isnt doing but hardly about how Sacred Heart played well. Great that you keep up with my post from a year ago. I will be at the Riordan game on Sacred Heart side in the front row. If you want to find out if I am sensitive I am, you can come talk with me, inbox me, we can meet .

I predict this years team is the best squad SI will have during the next 4 years. Stop tanking games SI W’s are going to be tough to come by next year and beyond. This was suppose to be the team to beat.

Missing Cason was a huge blow. I think he is the difference between a 4 league loss SI team and a 1-2 league loss SI team. Also the subtraction of Roberts.

We will see. This team if 100% healthy has everything. Length, speed, shooting, a floor leader, depth, athleticism and experience.

A negative comment as in "possibly carrying the ball"? Is that what you are referring to as a negative comment?
