Ivan Rabb-Marquese Chriss Video Breakdown

I think the only time they ever shared the same court before college was as teammates in the 2013 Norcal Clash at El Cerrito... looking more and more likely that their head-to-heads next year will be in NBA arenas...

The more I watch Chriss the more I think he will be the better of the 2 in the NBA. He's better facing up and is more versatile. He shoots it well out to 17 feet and has the stroke to add 2-3 feet. He will be able to play the 3 and 4. Rabb is a very good rebounder and has great hoop instincts. Rabb is going to measure more like 6"9. He's not 6"11.

I just think Chriss has more upside at this point. I never thought I would say that either.

I agree with Larry legend. I never thought I'd say that from high school but Chriss looks like the prospect with more upside.

The thing about Rabb that makes me bullish on a long career is his ability to rebound. That skill easily translates and doesn't fade quickly. Tristan Thompson just got paid big money as not much more than a rebounder.

That said, I think both will get multiple contracts in the league

Rabb is a very good rebounder. Has great basketball instincts and hands. Thompson to me isn't nearly as skilled offensively as Rabb but he has an amazing motor on the offensive and defensive end. Its always hard to tell who will end up good. Some guys get into better systems and teams which propel them up. Some players just fizzle and the drive runs out.

Both of these guys are options 3-4 on there teams so its hard to see how good offensively they can become. Between Brown, Wallace, Bird, and Mathews Rabb never sees the ball.

Since his Jr year in high school, I said the best thing for Chriss would be for him to go to college. His attitude has changed and quite frankly he looks great. Ivan is playing with a line up where he can barley get touches! He is not the high athlete at this level, but man is he efficient!

Rabb has always be on "light side" as far as lbs.. but time will fix that... no need to put lbs and get a Jahil Okafor "rear end".. but weight room will add good lbs.. Rabb's balance in traffic (paint) and foot work along with his ability to use both hands in traffic as well as passing off the block or elbow for a 4 is up there.....he will add a few feet to his mid range J with time as well.
I see a long solid career for him in the league.

as far as head to head projections of who will have a greater impact at next level, I have not/do not see many Washington games to form a view either way.

Cal looked like a team that could win PAC 12 champ last night at times. But away from HAAS they have been garbage. Jabari Bird is another guy who can play in the league becuause he's 6"6 and can shoot it.

Rabb gets pushed around down low. I don't see him making a living in the post. He's going to drift off the block a little but his game can support it. I think he can be a solid pro as well. You can't teach that high iq and great rebounding ability.

Bird's mid range pull up J is solid.. his hops always there..(a few ankle injuries at Cal has slowed him down a bit... but 2015/16 has been injury free).. His form on his J has continued to tighten up from his early HS days.. Bird needs to work on his handles to get to next level... He has trouble creating space from pressure D. (every player needs to work on something)..

Absolutely agree with you on Bird assessment. He's got the talent though and his "lift" seems to be back after suffering all those nagging injuries.
