Just a @TheR thought off season,…

I’m fine with Riordan. Curtain has built a great program. And I think they will continue to be great. Next season with Hillman, Armstrong, Porter and Pihtovs….with great opportunities for guys like Loevner and Carter as well.

As a Hall alumni/fan this really hurts me to say. But I think University is going to rival Riordan over the next couple of years.

They just are about done with a 50 million…not 5….50 million dollar brand new gym and if your spending that kind of dough on a gym, you best believe they are looking for the next Tounde Yessofou right now to add to that team.

This is a new day and age and Riordan and University are going to be spending like Duke and Alabama while the rest of the San Francisco teams are going to be nothing in comparison.

Might as well set up a series of games over the next three years with Riordan vs University at Chase Center

No other San Francisco basketball teams outside of these two currently matter…and it’s sad.

university is a private school?

Who ever can get dorms and have I-20 paperwork in order has a chance. Riordan is light years ahead of everyone else in SF.

university is a private school?
At the tune of $64,850 this past school year. They have major money. My buddy coaches baseball their and instead of playing non league baseball games for record purposes they took an amazing trip to The Dominican Republic. Played some games, did community service, and enjoyed the life. They are current record wise 13-1 and have beaten some solid teams. They us the baseball field for home games and practice that’s located in the presidio. Big money at that school.

Don't count SI out. They had some very good underclassmen play at Varsity level last season, and they have deep pockets, as they have begun their $200 million campus addition.

Damn and all I see online is that san francisco is suffering. Clearly someone got money flowing
It’s not the most expensive private high by the way. And my buddy is now selling homes way above asking once again. We aren’t suffering. Talent wise, I can see many of these type of parents may not want to see their sons getting their heads bashed in on a football field, but from a hoop and baseball aspect this city is far from suffering.

Here is the reality of all this talk about tuitions or the sharing personal information of someone’s income or the proposed inflations of that some persons product,….not a good look when 60% of us feel we are facing a recession.

TheR is an Open or worst case scenario Div. 1 CIF boys basketball. Correct me, if I am wrong, but University is more of a comparison to ArchBishop Riordan when they we in Div III Is that a generation ago after they fell from this current level-after the Isola Era

Are some posters trying to compare the two because the two are in the city. I have to side with that poster who compared TheR & SI in talent and administration focus in sports.

But the original post stated a clear message about mind set at TheR and not the East/Ellis St boys are still flexing about the lower checker playing Divisions or ClubMed Trips for students

Jim maybe one day you will get it thru you thick F…..G head and realize you didn’t have a choice at that time. In the Isola era there were 3 divisions. Teams could play up. During that era it was enrollment period. The open was created to eliminate private schools winning every single division. There was a d5 school in So Cal that would have blown out many D1 schools from NorCal. Tyson Chandler played D2 every year. That team was dominating the nation. Mater Dei was a D2 school. Your pathetic take on those years of Klay Thompson winning a state title at D3 and James Harden winning at D3 is just pathetic. Some of the best nba players in this state didn’t play in D1 because when it came to enrollment it was a majority public schools. McClymonds, Oakland Tech, Long Beach Poly. And at that time if you were an all boys school they doubled your enrollment. Now throw all the privates in the open so we can watch the 155th team ranked in the state versus the 210th team ranked in the state. If CIF dropped this open bullshit Riordan would be a D3 school and most likely played Harvard Westlake in the state title. Who has many D3 titles themselves until the open shit. Your not special cause you make the open, the best teams in the state make the open period. Which is a absolute injustice to state basketball. Cause the best teams do not play in Sacramento except in the open while the other best sit at home when all in all DLS would have been 1, SRV 2, Riordan 3, Salesian 4, and most likely Branson 5. I would rather watch those 5 teams represent nor cal and Rossevelt, Bosco, Harvard Westlake and whomever else they have from down south. versus Jesuit, Kings Academy, Woodside Priory and International. Riordan would beat the dog shit out of those schools and so would half the WCAL.

On that note we got state titles too on Ellis Street more current than that dusty ass banner sitting in the back room. As well as two national titles in the trophy case as well. And hey even a McDonald All American and all in division 3. I am sure you the hoop genius will figure out a way to land a Mickey D chic at the R. And hang a current state title in both men’s and woman’s basketball.

Better luck next year. And by the way comparing University to Riordan is hilarious. It’s hasn’t been close and never will be from an athletic advantage standpoint. Ain’t no Renchers and Ryder’s and Hellman’s walking around the university campus genius.

And by the way what’s the excuse if the Jorge Camacho team losing to D3 Sacramento High. Who went onto the state title. Any opinions on that. I mean you knock D3 but if it was so bad pretty sad The R, Purple Reign lost to that public school. Who else was on that team. HMMMMMM.

To be fair, Riordan boys and girls hoops teams are alot closer to hanging NorCal and State title banners than us. Current landscape has cycled to purple and gold.

It’s it amazing what the Girls Hoops program has created by a young man CUT by Rich Forslund from the Riordan basketball program. Has returned and won Freshman level championships of Boy’s A’s & B’s in his Role as TheR’s Batman with his own Robin in Capt. Coach Slade. I think the new assist is a named well respected in BA Basketball too.

I feel sorry that a certain poster is posting and not taking care of his own business,….it seems all is good at TheR and the thread post.

I think I have to stop saying Eastside/Ellis St Boys,…I think Capt . Coach Slade is from Ellis St back in the day when that Gaelic Clover meant something

Can we find that closet and put you back in the Closet,…..🧐🧐🤣🤣🤣😱

Because you seem to hold on to a lot of different Jock Staps 🤫🤫
#🎤……drop

The time period you reference: “is this the time period A Coach while coaching this team”,… was applying to Ellis St. to be a Coach? Somethings should stay in the closet

I remember that game. Riordan's starting PG and best defender Daniel Cannon got injured in the 1st quarter and didn't play the rest of the game. Sac High's stud (I can't remember his name) had an awesome game.

I don’t disagree with that but the purple and gold who some who weren’t even around during the Isola era nor the Katley Tofi squad have not a clue WTF they are talking about. On that note schools only hold so many kids. When you go co-Ed it creates less opportunity on either side. We went Co Ed in 1987.

With all due respect that was the year after the trip to Sac High. Rob Jones was already graduated. Camacho was a senior and Cannkn was a sophomore and got hurt hosting Sac High. Gold memory, but a great off. But hey to some geniuses at Riordan who know it all, WTF do I know.

By the way Jim do you know who that fully loaded Riordan team lost to, literally loaded and who they lost to. One guy, his name was Reggie Geary. That amazing well coached team lost to a guy who went to Arizona and he got drafted and spent a massive year in the NBA and averaged an unreal 2.5 points game a year in Cleveland. Riordan had no business losing that game and Dwayne Fontana will tell you that. Unreal coaching that game, my opinion. Mater Dei wasn’t even close to the better team.
