Took DLS less than a month to find one of their own... Maybe the DLS administrator had prepared a "short list" just in case Kuhle left sooner than expected.
I would also be concerned about his college experience, rather similar to Kuhle's; but I'd guess there were lots of discussions in the interviews
about whether Argenal could or would be committed for the long haul.
Apparently at least some of Argenal's family isn't far off, with his brother being at CS East Bay, so maybe his local roots are stronger than Kuhle's were.
I am sure there were lots of discussions about him staying for the long haul and I hope he does, but I feel sure he told them he would as all of us coaches do during interviews, but having that college coaching in his blood just seems to make it easier to jump back into it. Many college assistants that have never been a HS head coach fail to realize how big of a job for not that much pay it actually is. Hopefully he stays and hopefully he does such a great job I am studying his games very diligently as I do with many great coaches to improve in my craft. Looking forward to it.
Fantastic! I really appreciate that. One question for you or anyone on here for that matter. Do you know of a link for last season's state tourney games online. I was watching a few of them a now I can get the link on the CIF page to pull up. I have asked @cifstate on twitter several times already and it is if I don't exist. No answer at all. Thanks for any help. Would love to watch the semis and finals of most every class, especially Crespi's games and HW games. Thanks to anyone who can help!
I would think at least some of the tourney games from last year would be on YouTube somewhere...
But then, maybe not... might be copyright issues since many of the games were on live TV.
Doesn't hurt to try the YouTube search engine, tho... I have found some Chino Hills games that way, using the school's name in YouTube's search, ie. "Crespi High Basketball" or whatever other school you want.
I wasn't ready to stop watching hoops at the end of last season, so I found some Illinois state playoff games and watched those... And a few other states.
Since you're interested in looking at how various teams are run, here are a couple of my faves to watch...
West Linn High School of Oregon, the state champ in Oregon's top division, four years running. Certainly they have had good talent (one kid played very well in the Nike Summit game and will be an Oregon Duck this coming season), but their system seems flawless and they'll remain a top-flight team as long as their coach sticks around.
Stevens Point Area Senior High of Wisconsin (their uni's and many of the links to their games use the school's initials (SPASH). Another team with solid talent but even better results, they crushed everybody they faced last year on the way to an undefeated season and state title (I think they only had one game where they won by less than 10, and it wasn't a playoff game).
I like to use this phrase for teams like this: "more than just the sum of their talent". btw, both teams graduated some really good seniors last year, but I have an idea they'll both be almost as excellent this year anyway due to their systems and therefore be worth a look if you find time this year.
Yes talked to Chad on the phone. Sent him info for next year.
I will sent you last season's Program. The one for this December is not ready.
Here's wishing you great hoops
