I was at the game tonight, and what I saw from Sheldon, looked nothing like what they are all hyped up to be!! I know its just one game, but I expected a lot more from the coaches to the players. Players are truly just mirror reflections of their coaching that they are receiving. And that's my opinion, and that's what this board is for! To voice respectful opinions.

Sheldon is very similar to Folsom. Guard-dominated team with a 6-7 star wing. Point is that Folsom looks overrated sometimes when a player or two doesnt step up and the team knows they dont have to give 100% to win a game. Maybe Sheldon wasnt 100%? I wasnt there but I agree that its playoff time and they should have brought it against Kennedy. Was Cole Taira playing? Was anyone missing from Sheldon?
Dg, as for what I saw, Sheldon has great potential, during the moments when the ball was swung and sets were ran for good looks.
I believe Sheldon will go as far as Manning and Brooks take them. Not to count out the other guys, but numbers don't lie! And Manning and Brooks statistically are amongst the top in the state from my own research after watching last night. What I don't understand though, maybe others know more than me, but who's the point guard for Sheldon? I couldn't tell, I just look at stats. And I'm curious on why Sheldon runs such a small lineup when I clearly saw big guys on the bench, and based on stats some of Sheldon guards assist to turnover, how do all those little guards play so many minutes? If their not assisting and scoring on a Reg?

Hey PF, Ive actually heard nothing but good things about the Sheldon team, first off. I guess I'm just a old school kinda guy, when it comes to the hoops. I just love to see competitive basketball. I can be a hard critic at times, and I have to remember that these are just kids who are playing for the love of the game. Hopefully I'll be able to watch Sheldon on the Big Boy Stage! SLEEPTRAIN
Modesto Christian will validate or shutdown Sheldon's legitimacy. I read a quote where Coach Rollings says his team, "plays like the Golden State Warriors". The Coach says the similarity is with sharing the rock. Will check them out to see if the game plan meets the hype.
There aint no need to validate Sheldon Legitimacy. They are 22-4 and their 4 losses are a combined total of 14 points to 3 teams ranked #3 #4 #6 in California and one other loss to a team in LA on Saturday night after they played Friday in Sac then drove down cramed in a van and played in a Serra Showcase. Two losses were in Vegas to Redondo Union and Westchester with no shot clock. Also Devin Greene, a four year starter , had a severe chest sickness and basically didn't play. . They went 14-0 in Delta. 27-1 in last 2 years. Not bad for a team that many said would be DEAD FOR A LONG TIME after the BS hit a couple years ago. Win or lose these kids have played well and should be congratulated for how they've played. All are scholar kids, good character kids etc and at the end of the day just kids. They play with 5 guards and no big against tough schedules and fair well. Give those guards a Robinson Idenhen , Josh Jackson, Solomon Young, Cage Mater Dei or any other big and the sky would be the limit. In the Folsom Game at beginning of the year Jordan Ford hit a 75 foot shot which would be more than the difference in the game.

You guys have two very capable bigs heat for the high school level. U guys decide to start your five best players which are guards.
The D1 Final Four is no surprise.. Folsom , Modesto Christian, Sheldon, play brutal preseason schedules in preparation for expectation to get to this point. Jesuit no surprise either as Woodcreeks supporting was cast not as strong. Folsom vs Jesuit is a very interesting game and if Jesuit can contain Ford and Finch have an outside shot at the upset. Sheldon vs MC is the most interested game. Sheldons guards against an athletic big and a strong point guard. This game might come down to the final minute as both are proven Champions. I'll be in the house all night, even to watch the overwhelming favorite in D2 Sac Hi.
If my memory serves me correct, I recall watching a similar, pretty much 5 guard line up from Sheldon at the Arena a few years back. That Sheldon team was a match up nightmare for any coach! If not for the guy who should of won the NBA dunk contest, most likely Sheldon would have a STATE CHAMPS banner I believe. My point is that, give me the Sheldon's 5 guard line any day! From my research, on past Sheldon teams and current one in playoffs is that at least one of Sheldon's supposed all guard line has been 6"5 or taller! That's scary for any team when you have to face a team with a guard such as Manning who can Shoot dribble and defend with exceptional athletic abilities. Im officially Picking Sheldon for SJS Champs! NO other team as deep! Let's face the facts, Sheldon is just a Dynasty! Ive done my research!
HEAT! you 100% correct. I can admit, I should have dug a little deeper before I made certain comments. With that being said I did mention earlier, something to the fact how I can be a hard critic at times and the need to remember that these are just kids trying to do their best, coaches included. I just love Basketball!! And I believe high school hoops to be the closest thing we have left to old school raw uncut basketball.
En4cr, I appreciate it. I'm on this message board often, due to my love for exchanging ideas and different opinions when it comes to hoops! I know for a fact, from reading some of these comments over time that some guys or women's for that matter.... Simply on this joint, just to stir up emotional responses and that's NOT me. I should let you guys know. I graduated from "keep It Real University" . Basically, let's keep it respectful. Esp when it comes to these student/athletes.
