Mitty led for 34 of the 36 minutes on Saturday night, but St. Francis led for the final two in a 62-57 overtime win. The Lancers have moved into sole possession of third place in the West Catholic Athletic League.

The Monarchs led 9-1 to start the game (St. Francis missed its first seven shots) and led 52-44 with 1:56 left in the fourth quarter after a bucket from Riley Grigsby. However, the Lancers went to an aggressive press to score the final eight points in regulation. In overtime, junior Tyler Manoa scored six of his 10 points off the bench as the Lancers grabbed the lead for the first time at the 2:37 mark.

St. Francis owned a 17-3 advantage from the free throw line (17-for-27 to 3-for-7). Both teams struggled from three point range as Mitty went 4-for-20 and St. Francis finished 3-for-14. The two teams missed their first 14 combined three pointers.

Junior point guard Logan Johnson had 16 points and a number of nice drop off passes. Jacob Mihanovic had 15 points and Oscar Pedraza had eight points, including a late free throw in the comeback.

Grigsby had 16 points for the Monarchs, which fall to 8-8. Hekili Jordan had 10 points and Mike Diaz had nine points. Travis Friar didn’t play for Mitty.
