This might be the softest thing I've ever seen. You hurt our feelings so we're not going to play you. Maybe I don't know the whole backstory between these two teams, but this is a victim mentality. Im not sure what point this proves.

This isn’t the first time the Lincoln football/cheerleading team have been racially taunted
2019 San Clemente was found to have used racially insensitive remarks including the N word during its game with Lincoln. So essentially in back to back seasons they had been racially or social economically taunted.
I will say that they should have announced this before the season started not 8 games in to the season.

it is clear you dont know the point it proves. it is also clear you think the behavior is ok. so that leaves nothing for interpretation here.

This sounds just like what Servite was doing- fans in the stands yelling racial obscenities'. Sad this still happens in 2021.

Obviously its not ok. But what about facing the person or people who are doing the things you don't like and standing up for yourself? Why not make that decision earlier in the year? The article states they may miss the playoffs because of it. What do they gain from that, the moral high ground? Dont think you get to hang a banner forthat. CC gets the win and gets to rest up for the playoffs. I don't think that teaches them a lesson in this.

i agree, sure they can play and hope to win. i dont think they have a chance to win and maybe that played a part in it. but if not sometimes this gets the point as we are here, in northern california discussing it. see if they played there would be no article on it. so it sort of worked.
the kids in southeast daygo live through enough and missing a football game is not that big a deal to daily life there.

They actually won’t Miss The Playoffs, they will get Bumped down from the SD Open Bracket to D1 which they will be a Favorite to win Because they won’t have to play SDCC (Who Beat Lincoln 41-0 Last Year) or Carlsbad who are the Top 2 Teams in SD….. Lincoln had an upset loss to Madison last week so even if they played this game and lost they would be in SDD1 instead of the SD Open so this was probably and easy decision for Lincoln….

I just don’t understand how this happened 6 months ago and Lincoln was “Satisfied with The Investigation” and The SDCC Coach (who had nothing to do with it) was Suspended and SDCC Apologized….. It seems like if Lincoln had a Problem with the punishment or whatever they would have come out sooner then 6 months later and say they were dissatisfied and not going to play SDCC this year…..

If Lincoln comes out and says at the beginning of they year they will not play SDCC then this would have been talked about all year so they could have made an even bigger point….

But I am not going to criticize Lincoln, What happened with San Clemente was Awful and What SDCC did was Offensive to Their Community so I applaud Coach Dunn for Taking a Stand…..

Servite is pretty diverse https://www.schooldigger.com/go/CA/schools/9999935416/school.aspx

I don’t know the full situation so I can speak for certain. I would like to beat their A$$ on the football field and leave it there. Not sure of the entire situation but seems crap to lose a game that there are so few of.
diversity means nothing. if the said statements were made against black players i can assume the 3 percent of students who are black are 95 percent on the football team. so there wouldnt be anyone in the crowd to offend. and lastly, hispanic folks surely dont like black people all that much in SoCal. especially those who would go to servite who forget they are minorities.

being a minority doesnt mean you cannot shout racist thoughts and feelings. especially when the offended is only 3.3 percent.

You never know why people do what they do but maybe they thought that by waiting, they would make a bigger statement with their grievances and maybe they felt the remedy or mea culpa wasn't big enough or authentic enough at the time.....or maybe as time passed, and the game got closer, their wounds grew again to the point they felt they needed to make a bigger statement, who knows.

I can't say I know how that feels but if this is what they felt was the right thing to do and was aligned with their principals and it was done principally as a community, then more power to them. I have a slightly different philosophy but I am not in their shoes so in some ways you have to give the school the benefit of the doubt on the decision.

It’s not easy being black in CA or the West Coast no doubt, when you go out east the demographics are much different. Being black out west you’ll be noticed pretty much everywhere you’ll stand out, no doubt you right. You are also correct that down there yes there are many more wealthy Mexican American families that have been in CA for many, many generations, and may have a surprising attitude toward African Americans, although I also see it amount first generation folks as well. I don’t know the statements at all.

Does this mean those schools will not play any sports against one another this year or from now on?

That’s what makes this a Little Puzzling…. This incident happened Prior to their FB Game in 2020 and that game was still played (41-0 win for SDCC) as well as all other sports between the 2 teams have been played as they are in the same league….

Maybe because this was Specific to the FB Team and players for SDCC that is who The Lincoln community has an issue with….

Lincoln has a Great History in SD, Marcus Allen went there and I am Pretty Sure Terrell Davis went there…. How many other HS’s can Claim 2 HOF Running Backs….

Not surprised by San Clemente at all. OC has a history of racism, particularly the southern end of the county. Thought by 2019 that sort of incident would be a thing of the past.Guess not

I saw this First Hand Growing up….. My Aunt and Uncle Adopted African American Twins (Boy and Girl) when they were Babies in The 70’s…. I grew up with them until They RE Located to Alexandra VA in 1982….

My Uncle was so tired of all the BS they had to put up with Being White parents of Black Kids in Conservative OC, so he got a Job Back East and Moved the Family….

It was a Bummer because My Cousins were Basically Me and my Sisters Best Friends…..

Its a big bummer because Asian and Hispanic people have thrived in OC, they now account for 22% and 34% of the county respectively, and now even have large populations in the southern wealthier sides. African Americans have moved more east to Riverside/IE or to Vegas, or even Texas/Georgia, reversing the trend that occurred during the great migration that occurred from the 40s-60s.

Once again, does this refusal to play extend to all sports and for all time? Have they played other sports against one another since the incident? Some of this makes little or no sense.

I'm sure they'll play again at some point.

i am guessing the girls soccer team had little to be offended because the jokes were toward the football players. it doesnt make sense because you arent the offended. you dont have to make sense of it. it doesnt effect you. like i dont care or care to make sense of a fat person being bothered by being fat. i am not fat. i will never understand how it feels.

I'm not sure how to call this one. I'd probably lean more towards being disappointed in the decision. I feel there is more to learn and gain from playing the game and dealing with adversity. Life is full of it and learning how to cope with things early in life can be beneficial later. Assuming the issue was old, i'm sure security, parents, and faculty members would be prepared and on high alert at the game. I tend to lean towards solutions. Play the game and have a post game party together so the kids can get to know each other and hopefully develop some empathy or at least be more culturally aware (ie; Remember the Titans). By avoiding the issues, the problems will only carry over into the streets. Hopefully not but my experience tells me different. No matter how we see it, the administration made the call and I respect it. Hopefully down the road these two programs can come together in a positive way and laugh about it together someday.

So here's a poser for you: Inglewood routed Morningside, 106-0, Friday in SoCal. The first period score was 59-0. The Inglewood QB threw 13 TD passes, including a passel in the second half (the halftime tally was 80-0). Should Morningside boycott Inglewood teams now? Was the humiliation bad enough to end a relationship? Are there disturbing socio-economic overtones in this affair? One wonders. One frets.

If The CIF had any Balls they would Suspend That Coach…. If you are up 59-0 in the first Quarter and not running the ball with your second stringers on every play you don’t deserve to Mentor and Coach HS Kids….

Or Better yet, The CIF should put Inglewood in MD’s playoff Bracket and Make them play MD in the First Round…. 🤣🤣
