Los Gatos 33 - St. Mary's- Stockton 30

Los Gatos QB Bigge had a great game versus St. Mary's secondary. Los Gatos kicked things off with a 14-0 lead. Los Gatos would lead the entire game, until a minute and a half left in the game when St. Mary's scored on a 74 yard screen play Dunniway to Cotton. After fielding the kicking off and starting from their own 21, Los Gatos got a big pass play over the middle to Miles Beach to give the Wildcats 1st and 10 on the St. Mary's 36. On 2nd and 10 with 33 seconds left, Bigge scrambled backwards a good 15 yards back with Rams pressure in his face, he threw for a deep screen that nearly was intercepted. Instead, the pass was ruled incomplete. On 3rd and 10 with 27 seconds left, the Rams blitzed, and Bigge threw up a prayer! St. Mary's DB Brandon Sanders jumped and missed, and the ball fell right into the Los Gatos WR hands for the game winning TD, leaving 18 seconds left on the clock. St. Mary's QB Dunniway was intercepted and Los Gatos took the victory formation to seal the win. Congrats Los Gatos! A big win on their brand new turf field.

Much excitement in this game, especially the last two minutes. Game will be played on Comcast tomorrow evening. Enjoy! I did, even though the Rams lost.

Just like in the SJS D2 section championship game last year versus Grant, and in the game this year versus Central Catholic, St. Mary's secondary just not good enough against Los Gatos tonight. You can guarantee the other TCAL teams are taking note and will be looking to go to the air versus St. Mary's. The Rams better wake up and fix their secondary or their reign as TCAL champions could very much be in jeopardy. GO RAMS!!!

Big effort from Los Gatos. St. Mary's is done, but this is still a big win for the Wildcats, who had lost to Mitty and San Benito.

Interesting De Anza note is Wilcox beat San Benito (35-14) tonight.

St. Mary's is young! Most of the skill players on offense, QB Jake Dunniway, WR's Dewey Cotton and Keaton Hampton (who did not play vs Los Gatos) and starting lineman Popo Aumavae, Jarrett Carl, Mikie Prefling, To'a Heck, and Joseph Olsen are all juniors. The featured RB is senior Brandon Zaunbrecher, but getting much playing time and should be a stud the next few years for the Rams, is sophomore RB Dusty Frampton. Even the kicker, Roman Rubio, is a junior. The Rams JV squad is pretty talented, as well. Not much is expected for this year's St. Mary's varsity team considering how young most of the starters are. But next year, these players, along with a talented sophomore class, should be pretty special for St. Mary's varsity team. Again, hats off to Los Gatos, who were successful in achieving revenge for last year's very close loss. This year, it just wasn't St. Mary's turn to win. I still anticipate St. Mary's will do well in TCAL league. By the time playoffs roll in, they may have achieved enough experience to be ready to get by the first round or two - but not expecting too much, considering the defense needs a lot of work. Not writing off the year, just yet, but very much looking forward to next year. GO RAMS!!!

Yes, I'd say St. Mary's needs help in their secondary. Hunter Bigge's threw 5 TD's over 20 yds.

LG's season is probably on the line next week when they face Wilcox

bulldogmgc,

So, St. Mary's have five juniors starting on the OL? That will set them up well for next year.
