After beating SI Thursday, M-A is now 28-2. Could the Bears, in the midst of their best season in school history by any reasonable measure, receive the No.1 seed in NorCal Division I on Sunday? It would not be out of the question.

I think the loser of SMS/ McClatchy would get the 1 seed. Thats assuming that the OPEN doesnt take the loser also. Which of course is a definite possiblity.

McC is outstanding with all hands (including Cruz) healthy and available. SMS is a known commodity. However, if McC is sans Cruz, well, M-A should be considered for the No.1 seed.

Is there a max rule on NorCal participants from one section?
SJ sent 5.... McClatchy, Oak Ridge, Folsom, Lincoln and St. Francis
NCS(4): Heritage, Logan, Castro Valley and Berkeley
CCS(3): Menlo-A, Palo Alto and Los Gatos
SF(2): Lincoln and Washington
Oakland(2): OakTech and McClymonds
Did the SJ get an extra since the CCS only sent 3?

Probably because the SJS only sent one team to the Open Division. SF and Oakland are not "considered" strong sections.

NCS only sent one team to the Open - why not Cal as the 5th team from NCS?

In boys D2, they put in 6 NCS teams, so it is nothing against NCS. It appears they just added the teams they felt were the best after all the automatic berths in order to fill all of the 16 team brackets.
