Laguna Creek has a much more experienced team than McClatchy. Laguna Creek is a senior-laden team. McClatchy will do well in the coming years due to being a "freshmen/sophomore" laden team. McClatchy committed too many turnovers on poor passing (too much in a hurry). McClatchy also tends to have poor shot selection on fast breaks, when penetrating the key, and after obtaining an offensive rebound, throwing up wild shots instead of kicking the ball out to an open player for a higher percentage shot. Sometimes it looks like selfish play and not smart play. McClatchy will get better with more experience. Freshman Nina Cain needs to work on her free throws with a higher arch and work on those short shots around the basket, but she will be a dominant force and star in the coming years. Laguna seniors Ahhray Young and Zoe Tillery looked dominate tonight and should as seniors.
In the SJS postseason, Div. 2 will be very interesting--perhaps more so than Div. 1. In Div. 2, Antelope, Vista del Lago, Laguna Creek, Del Oro, and Christian Brothers (CBS) should be the top 5 seeds "possibly" in that order. Vista del Lago and CBS still have two league games against each other.
In SJS Div. 1, Folsom, St. Mary's, Oak Ridge, Lincoln-Stockton, and McClatchy should be the top 5 seeds "probably" in that order. That order could change if Oak Ridge beats Folsom on 2/11, and Lincoln-Stockton beats St. Mary's on 2/10.
In SJS Div. 3, Vanden should have a cake-walk. Vanden has no apparent threats in SJS Div. 3. The "sleeper" is West Campus. Since West Campus did not play a non-league schedule, and will only play league games in a weak league, no one really knows anything about them and how they will do in the postseason. West Campus is undefeated in league play at 5-0, (5-0 overall) and will finally get a MaxPreps ranking after tonights game (need six games played for a MaxPreps ranking).
In SJS Div. 4, Calaveras, Colfax, Dixon, and Argonaut should round out the top 4 seeds.
