Big SJS v. NCS showdown today in Lafayette. McClatchy (#11 in California per Max Preps) faces Acalanes (#8 in the state).

Post-season seedings and maybe placements riding on this one.

Blazing start to the game. Lots of adrenalin. Two quick fouls on Acalanes center, Dulci Vail, trying to contain Nina Cain, but she's still in and has a couple of buckets. 8-7 McClatchy.

This is a high speed war. Both teams are flying up the court, even after made baskets. Great post battle between Cain/Vail.

End Q1 McLatchy 15 Acalanes 12

Halftime McClatchy 30 Acalanes 27

Timely three pointers by Hallstrom and Lacalane for the Dons to keep things close. Daisy Throckmorton has two threes for McClatchy.

For those of you who haven't seen her, Nina Cain is worth the price of admission.

52-50 Dons after three.

Playing in a mask, Ariana Halstrom took it hard to the bucket twice. Dulci Vail had some excellent swoops. And Lacalane carried the quarter. Big three by McClatchy's Breyana Kimmons and a couple of midranges from Throckmorton.

Huge back to back threes by Lacalane and the Masked Singer have Acalanes up by six with three minutes to play

This was a big intersection game. If CKM had won it may have had ripple effects on the NorCal Open.

For example: if CKM had come in 2nd place in the SJS D1 they may have gone ahead of the 2nd place NCS Open team assuming Acalanes won the section. But Acalanes got it done so im speculating over something I needn't lol.

So still:

SJS D1 winner
NCS Open 1 & 2
CCS Open 1 & 2
CW

Im still not sold that SMS won't have a say in the DJS D1 yet even though they are lingering around .500. They've played all comers ...not dodging anyone and it wouldn't surprise me if they put it all together in the next couple of weeks and make a run..albeit most likely D1 in norcals.
