As it should be. Mitty gets a chance at revenge for last year.

Will be fun watching the matchup between PW's Elle Ladine and Mitty's Morgan Cheli.

Someone other than Ladine will have to hit the glass for Pinewood. If they limit their live ball turnovers against Mitty's press and hit a reasonable percentage from three, it will be competitive.

Predictions?

I think Pinewood hangs tough with them but will get worn down in the second half. A lot of Ladine's shoulders against Mitty's depth and pressure. That said, I really like Pinewood's overall toughness and shooting

Mitty by 12. Elle is certainly the biggest threat for PW and Sue will find a way to limit (or at least slow) her. Mitty's pressure, overall length and ability to close out on the smaller shooters and rebound will limit PW's scoring and second chance opportunities. Two great coaches, with great depth, going to battle once again. Also, I believe PW is down a couple players, unless they returned since last week.

Pinewood did a great job doubling and clogging the lane against a bigger SI team. SI had no inside outside game to counter that. Mitty's guard are way better shooters than SI, but they still need to hit their shots when Pinewood clogs the lane with 3 helpers. It's hard to drive against Pinewood because they help so much, so Mitty will have to hit from outside to win.

Pinewood has always done well against Mitty pressure, so I don't think that will affect them that much. They won't get the open looks that they are use to because Mitty's defense it much more disciplined that most teams in terms of secondary help and staying on shooters.

Pinewood by 6.

They have the best player on the floor and have the quickness to keep up with the mitty guards who are pretty much the only other threats other than Morgan Cheli.

Blex20 hits it on the nose, though his prediction was not looking good for a long while.

Pinewood led by 12 halfway through the third quarter. After a timeout, Coach Phillips switched Cheli onto Ladine for the first time. Ladine, who had 23 to that point, did not score again. Meanwhile, Makayla Moore had the best few minutes of her career, exploding for 18 points to drive the comeback.

Major props to both squads and both staffs for an extremely high level and extremely entertaining game.

I'll need to catch the replay on NFHS. I was freezing at San Bruno Park, watching Riordan baseball play Cappuccino.

Just watched on NFHS…. Mitty’s depth wore Pinewood down, I think. That and Cheli stopping Ladine…. Btw, Ladine is really good…. Washington’s got a good one coming their way!

Except Moore had 25 and Ladine had 17 I believe..

Entertaining game that I wish I drove over the hill for. Hopefully it will be back at SCU next year!

Sorry, wasn't clear. Moore did have 25. But 18 came in a furious flurry over 6 minutes when Mitty outscored PW 29-7.

Will stand by an estimate of 23 for Ladine, but 0 in the last 12 minutes.

Fatigue had a lot to do with it. Pinewood is usually pretty good about boxing out and securing the defensive rebound, but they did not have the depth that Mitty does. There were so many sequences when Mitty made that huge run where some of the Pinewood players just stood there and watched the ball in the air due to fatigue. Mitty took advantage of that and made so many second, third chance buckets.

There was also a stretch in the 2nd quarter where Pinewood was really gassed as well, but Mitty couldn't hit anything from outside and couldn't take advantage.

13 in the first half and 5 in the second half for 18. And you’re right none after that step back 3 half way through the 3rd. She was very impressive for 2 and a half quarters

That step back got me out of my seat. So did a thunderous block in the first half, where she chased down a Monarch on the break, wound up and spiked a layup attempt. But my favorite play was the Birdesque, behind the head blind pass by Mitty for a layup after a scrum.
