Mitty vs SHC

Final Mitty 65 SHC 45. Mitty led by 21 at half and it never really got any closer. There's currently an active thread on the boys board titled "Parity Absent in WCAL." Safe to say that's even more true on the girls side.

I watched the game. Junior transfer #44 Elana Weisman 6-1 PF made her debut for AM last night. However, I did not see junior transfer #31 Belle Bramer 6-0 SF participate. Two girls were sitting side by side in street clother on the bench. Perhaps Belle Bramer was sitting next to Morgan Cheli.

I thought that the three quick tiny guards (#20, #11 & #0) for SHC gave Mitty all kinds of problems. I would speculate that the Monarchs had 20 turnovers. These girls would come from behind and slap up on the ball of the dribbler. They also would immediately tie up Mitty's rebounders for jump balls. SHC also employed constant double-teams like Archbishop Mitty does to trap ball-handlers. I doubt that they will lose many games in the WCAL. Maya Hernandez really had problems with them. All three could drive to the basket for layups and could knock down three points. SHC actually outscored AM in the second half by one.

The couple primary scorers for the Monarchs were Elle Hanson and McKenna Wolizko. Sarah Chen distributed the ball and scored double figures, too. I have not seen the box score so these are my observations. Hopefully, Morgan Cheli will be back when the Mitty travels to San Francisco for the rematch.

When the lead started to balloon in the 2nd quarter, it was time for me to tune out. I dont think there was a question AM was going to beat SH, the question is how many more points better are they? I think the result fell under my guess that they are 15-20 pts better. AM's interior size/length neutralized those SH drives to the basket you mentioned. They shots they got out of those were more like prayers thrown up to the rim. The effort was certainly encouraging by SH. They will get into CCS Open and hopefully be in D1 Nor Cals. As we clearly saw they are not in AM's league right now.
