Modesto Christian Holiday Hoops Bracket is UP!

Strong field made up primarily of central valley teams (impressive)... for my two cents, best high school tourney in Northern California.

Nice lineup, but it doesn't compare to Gridley with Sheldon, Salesian, Capital Christian, Dublin, Mitty. Broad representation of NorCal teams, and loaded with talent.

Great Field but why the only 2 teams from Stockton. W. Ranch & Lincoln matched up 1st round??? I understand that they are not in same leagues but sheesh.

Don't forget Norcal Preps #1 Folsom at Gridley. Also includes Woodcreek which would have been another top team had Jordan stayed

MC is a solid tourney. Been going for years. Small but "normal" HS gym. I wouldn't worry about it selling out. I've been to some big games over the years and never had to worry. I would say its one of the better gems around. Not as good as Gridley though.

Gridley is good, but MCHH>Gridley all day every day IMO.

When MC has a good team (i.e. this year), you want to show up at least a couple games before they play in this event to make sure you've got a seat...

Twitter, agree on the seating. I typically go for at least 2-3 games to make it worth the trek. Plus its fun to see all the players you normally wouldn't get to watch. Anybody remember when Tyler Honeycutt Sylmar team was there? What a head case that bunch was. Total disaster.

First round is Dec. 27, my birthday... That's how I'll be celebratin'! Eight games! Woohoo!!!

Strong field, including host Modesto Christian, San Joaquin Memorial, Freedom, St. Joe's, Campo, Vanden, etc.
Thanks for the positive input on the Gridley Invitational found in this thread. This year will mark our 64th edition of the tournament with a very strong field - 6 of the 8 eight teams are ranked in top 12 by NorCal Preps including #1
Folsom, #3 Salesian and #5 Sheldon. We also have a great facility and very low admission prices. Come join us in great Gridey December 7-9th for some great high school basketball.

MC's gym is semi-small, but seating is practically never a problem unless you show up just before the MC game and expect to get a good seat.

As I said up there, I'll be there for all eight first-round games. The rest will of course depend on what I saw in the first round... Last year, I was disappointed, so I went down to the St. Francis tourney for the first time ever... and that move was a winner! The Paly-SF game was probably the best game of the month in NorCal, at least for me...

For those who've never been there, the Gridley tournament is a *great* show, year after year. Long and storied history (it was the "TOC before there WAS a TOC", great ball, gym that probably seats 15-1800 or so... Might be the only preseason hoops tourney with a Tournament Queen... I get the idea that this is the biggest annual event of any type (or at least close to that) for this otherwise sleepy little town. So yeah, I'll be there for the whole thing (with a possible exception of a Sarruday run to Jesuit if St. Joe's makes the final there).

Both Gridley and MC have great events; no reason to try to compare them since they are 3 weeks apart... Just go to BOTH!!

From looking at the brackets, they need to find a independent panel to seed/create the bracket.. Just because you host the trny doesn't mean you should get a cake walk to the finals..... A lot of great trny's ultimately disappeared due to this.

I think I saw somewhere that Gridley doesn't announce their bracket until about Dec. 1.

HA! HA! HA! HA! I know you can't be talking about the GIBT:)

We usually wait till after the Norcal Tip off. I want to get a last look at some of the teams that will be at Gridley. Also, last minute roster changes and eligibility comes into factors for seeding. Gridley did win a game the year before last, winning against Campolindo.

Here's a Bit of GIBT history. Missing several pieces that year ,Campolindo is the only team to win and go undefeated in the tourney, and the following year lose all three games.
Here's wishing you great hoops
