Good info from John Devine on the coaching records of Golden Anderson (Carmel), Jeff Carnazzo (Palma) and Steve Zenk (Salinas). Top three coaches in Monterey County

Technically incorrect... Steve Zenk's first year as a head coach was a North Salinas High, who definitely did not win a CCS title. Also, Steve currently coaches at Salinas High, not Palma. Palma is his alma mater.

Not really sure what Devine is counting. Believe Coach Zenk spent his first 10 years as a head coach at North Salinas. If MaxPreps is correct he had 36 wins in his first 10 seasons. And 69 losses. Since becoming the Head Coach as Salinas in 2017 he has complied a 30 and 9 record. Which does work out to 100 wins in 130 games (assuming he keeps his winning percentage around 77% each season).

Just out of curiosity: What was Norm Costa's lifetime head coaching record at Holy Cross, Marello Prep and Palma?

Coach Costa - Over a 36 year career that included stops at Holy Cross and Marello Prep, Costa finished his career with a 253-65-4 overall record. from John Devine. https://cover3sports.wordpress.com/2020/05/02/former-palma-football-coach-costa-passes-away/

When the 1990s decade ended, "Palma (which started playing football in 1954) had amassed a 114-7-0 record, including the final 36 games of a 47-0-1 unbeaten streak (in the 1990s). The 114-7 record, which computes to a 94.2 winning percentage, is superior to any other for a single decade in California history with the exception of Concord De La Salle going 125-1 for the 1990s during its national record 151-game win streak.

For the 1990s decade - "Palma’s 114-7 is better than De La Salle’s state-best 105-10-1 for the 1980s or Ventura St. Bonaventure’s state-best 130-9 for the 2000s (not including forfeits) or even Cordova of Rancho Cordova’s state-best 102-6-1 for the 1970s." (CalHiSports).

I believe Coach Costa had a slightly winning record at HC and Morello prep, but wasn't really until the middle 1980s after becoming HC at Palma in 1977 and switching to Fly from Power I that the winning streak really took root.
