Im sure I missed some teams. This is off the top pf my head. Can we please start talking hoops!

Looks like a good list to me but sac high i believe belongs in that top 10 somewhere
With young and terrell. It's going to be a very exciting and wide open season in the post
rabb era.I still believe el cerrito will be a team to watch out for even without carlos
johnson maybe not a open candidate but still a good shot in there respective division. Is
this the year modesto christian gets it done? If they can get
some consistent outside shooting to go with there inside game watch out.Last but
not least this is the last go round for this moreau group i believe they will be on a mission. knight
has done a terrific job with that program and they have had a taste of playing in a state championship game. They bring it every night defensively If they can execute offensively especially
in the half court they could very well be a open title contender.

Here are two who might sneak into the picture if things falls right:

I have an idea O'Dowd will find a way to make some noise in 2016 despite losing Rabb and Austin to D1 colleges, at least if Hardy lives up to the hype (which I believe he will). So don't sleep on those guys... They've always been one of those teams whose results on the floor are better than what they seem on paper.

Another to watch is Woodcreek with superstud Jordan Brown. Most of the rest of the starters (possibly all) were seniors, so they'll need to find help from other spots on the floor or Brown will get triple-teamed every time he gets near the ball. Still, if Brown's as good as everyone says he is (I haven't seen him in person yet), he alone makes this team at least somewhat dangerous. I'd say they're a year away, but you never know when someone's gonna grow up ahead of schedule...

Kiddman,

I think O'Dowd will have a really good year. Better than most average high school teams for sure. I even think they will be good enough to play in the NCS D3 Title. I left them out because I didn't want the list to be too east bay centric.

I tried to think of all the Nor-Cal teams that would be good enough for the top 10, and they were right there. Also the same thing with Sac High. I went back and forth about 3 teams from the SJS in the top 10. You guys are right Sac High can be right in there also. This is the problem with trying to do these types of polls.

Woodcreek wasn't on my radar because they lost more than 70% of their scoring but I think they play Newark at the tip off so I can be "eating crow" if they take care of Newark.

Heard O'dowd has brian shaw's son playing there any word on how good he is?

I like your top six with some slight adjustments. I don't think Manteca (although good) is in the class of the others, and Salesian is a year away. They have some great young talent, but need some seasoning. Here is my list:

1. De La Salle
2. Moreau Catholic
3. Modesto Christian
4. Folsom
5. Sheldon
6. St. Francis
7. Sacramento
8. Mitty
9. Monte Vista
10. ?

Nick Jones has done an incredible job at Monte Vista the past few years, without question. But who besides him do they have coming back?
I'm not saying they can't crack the top 10 because he will coach them up, but those other teams all have some outstanding talent coming back.

Sac High returned pretty much their whole team so they should be pretty good this year.

Also, if Woodcreek has any guard play this season they could be pretty good. I hear they may have another big kid thats not bad.

Ok, here is my take on things, maybe way off but who really does know at this point.

1. Moreau
2. Modesto Christian
3. Sheldon
4. DLS
5. Folsom
6. St. Francis
7. Sacramento
8. Mitty
9. Woodcreek
10. El Cerrito or O'Dowd

O'Dowd will experience some serious growing pains!! League competition is my main criteria for selecting a top 10, and Manteca is not a top 10 team.

Modesto Christian
St. Francis
Sheldon
DLS
Sacramento
Moreau Catholic
Salesian
Folsom
El Cerrito
Mitty

WoodCreek has a few X-fers so they will be in the mix, I would have them too 5.

I like DLS a lot. You have a team that went 27-5 last year and returns at least 3 starters and 9 players total. I'm hearing rumors that Asiasi will play hoops again. So you have 4 6"5 guys that can all play and arguably all at the college level. (Peters, Ratinho, Udenyi, and Asiasi). If they had a big we would be talking about a serious open contender.

Moreau is a lot of talent but they never can seem to put it together down the end. I don't look for that too change. Lost by nearly 50 3 years ago in State Finals and then last year by 30 to Serra in Norcal. THey will win games and be fun to watch but I don't see any rings.

Sac high will be very good as well. No reason they can't be in contention.

Salesian?? What am I missing. I wouldn't put them in the top 10. Maybe top 20. Marin Catholic is just as good in D4.

Mitty losing there forward is a huge loss. I think he would have exploded this year. Big time upside for that kid. They will sill be strong though. Never count them out.

Sheldon and Folsom will be the teams to beat up in SJS with wood creek trailing.

I'm not so big on El Ceritto. Carlos Johnson was a huge loss. Odowd will be solid.

I think that Campo could be successful regardless of the coach. Campos success isn't a result of only Watson but more so a result of getting a pretty wild amount of talent for such a small suburban town recently. Another thing people forget is that kids from Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda can choose to go to Campo and so it has become like an all-star esque kind of team for the Lamorinda area. O'Reilly, Hansen, Zolintakis etc. are all from Lafayette although I hear O'Reilly lived in moraga later on.

Also, these kids all come from the prestigious flight elite youth program and so they have a great basketball upbringing. Not that Watson wasn't a good coach, because he had a lot of success, but he had good players every year that knew how to play and came from other places to play there.

I think a new coach who knows a thing or two about basketball will be able to do well with this team because they bring back Clarke, Yamamoto (all league last year) and also big man Strother is returning this year after football season. Nice pg, wing, big combo.

Not going to give them top 10, but they could surprise people.

Austin Fadal transferred to MV, makes them go from above average to a top ten contender

Okay, I've beaten around the bush enough... my wayy-early Top 10:

1. DLS - Impressive 2016 class, awesome bunch coming off JV, bad news is no real post presence. New coach, too.
2. Sheldon - Have heard these guys are BACK with a vengeance.
3. Folsom - Jordan Ford will take them far and JV went 24-3 last year, so they must have some guys to pluck off that squad.
4. Modesto Christian - Always loaded with athletes, but will shooting be consistent enough?
5. Serra - New sophomore big man is touted to be da Man and coach is one of the best.
6. Monte Vista - Great coach, Nadal transferred in... 'nuff said.
7. St. Francis - Lost a lot of seniors, but UC Davis-bound Peter Hewitt is a load.
8. Sacramento - Senior-driven team with Young and Terrell will be tough if they can settle down their often frenetic game.
9. Moreau - Oscar Frayer is a beast, but grind-it-out teams have had their way with them at times (like Serra last year)
10. Mitty - Ben Kone and a great system, but lots of roster to replace.

Honorable mentions: Campo, O'Dowd, Salesian, El Cerrito
