Loved listening to the NorCal sports radio broadcasters & guests leading up to the "Bama-Clemson Championship that turned into a Clemson romp. One guest sports radio guest was laughing saying how Najee is one of 6 rotating RB's on Bama's roster while he'd be starting at any other program in the nation - but that is what Bama does & has done for decades now - 2-3 strings of RB's with good OL's and simply wears down the undermanned oposition along with their somewhat weak schedule each season [check it out - that "unbeaten" record is a bit deceiving.
Best quote of the radio program I listened to: "go into the 49ers locker room and look at the RB's on the roster & look at the players themselves & Najee Harris is better than anything the '9ers have currently on their roster."
Amen - I can truly say I cannot disagree whatsoever...
He just may be transferring to the NFL next season.
His ability to catch and size will make him a lot of money on Sunday. Gotta figure he declares.
Agree about the position and risk of injury and shelf life. But if he can last 5 years and get a decent sign bonus with his pick it beats enterprise rent a car. As you said rb has been very devalued
I totally disagree with your decision to chose school over the NFL for Najee. Youth is a big factor for a football player especially a RB. He should go get his money asap while he's so young. Alabama hardly used Najee the three years he was there so this would be the perfect year to enter the NFL draft. If Najee plays it right he can go back to Alabama to get his degree with the money he'll make from the NFL. Basically, his education will still be free and he'll have a good amount of pocket change to boot. Enterprise Car Rental should never be on his resume unless he has an unfortunate early career ending injury. That said, you can get terminally injured minding your own business walking down the street in this day and age. School will be there but becoming one of the greatest RB's in NFL history may not if you don't take the perfect opportunity presented to you. Now if a degree cost millions of dollars Najee should stay in school. Go make your money and fulfill your lifelong dream young man. Time waits for no man.Sad thing is after agents, taxes, etc, there isn’t much meat left on table for many of these players.(especially RB’s who might not cash in on next contract) Enterprise car rental might be where they end up. I wish the best For Harris I really do he seems like a good kid. I would advise finishing school since it’s paid for the degree may end being worth more than the NFL career.
Totally agree LL. He has the ability and all the tangibles to be a great NFL RB. Size, quickness, strength, hands, smarts, vision, patience and passion. Right now he might be the first RB off the draft board. Can't pass that up.His ability to catch and size will make him a lot of money on Sunday. Gotta figure he declares.
I agree with FJ 101. There are no guarantees in life, especially football. Does anyone remember the poor kid from Georgia Robert Edwards who lost his career playing in some event on the beach in Hawaii ? Who knows, he could or couldn't make generational money but if the opportunity is there he must take his shot. The fact that the Tide hasn't abused him the last three years is a huge bonus. I doubt this will not be lost on NFL scouts. Look at how well Jacobs has started out for the Raiders.I totally disagree with your decision to chose school over the NFL for Najee. After 5 years he qualifies for an NFL pension. That and his degree from 'Bama will serve him well. Even if he leaves early, he should go back and get that diplomaAgree about the position and risk of injury and shelf life. Go get that money now while your stock is high !!! Another year of heavy wear and tear for free is not smart at all
your scholarship is available for life. your chance at nfl money and moving momma outta antioch and to the oakland hills isnt. (just an analogy, i have no clue where momma stay)
You are only the hottest you will ever be once in your life. Secure the bag. They ran Trent Richardson legs into powder and look how he doing now.

Even though there are two differing trains of thoughts on this topic I think it's safe to say all very valid and have been expressed well. At the end of the day I think we all want nothing but good fortune and success for this young man.Again Rookie deals aren’t what they used to be. Falling to the back half of the first round will cost millions. Harris was graded as the 11th best Rb in the 2020 draft class. That would project to be a 3rd or 4th round pick. The current hype is speculative that he might go as high as the second. That would put his deal somewhere around 5million with the SB being 2-2.5 million. Now factor in Tax, Agent, he might walk with 1-1.5 plus his salary of 500k for 4-5 years. That won’t buy Mama a house in Oakland hills for very long anyway. He might never see that second deal because backs taken in 3rd and 4th are many time as productive or more than higher draft picks. Now he waits and plays another year, get his diploma. He may project into the first round or even a top 10 pick thus guaranteeing him 10 plus million in SB money which is guaranteed, plus a salary somewhere north of a million per year. Either way I hope the best for him.
yes, although they are renewed yearly so i guess they can always say no. however that would be contradicting everything they supposedly stand for with student-athlete.Is the scholarship available for life? A friend of mine left USC early for the pros and tried to go back after his NFL career and they said it was no longer available. That may have changed recently as that was a while back, but he ended up getting his degree at a different University. Anyway, I’m not saying Najee shouldn’t go early and get paid while he’s hot, just that the degree should be a consideration at some point.
ok, brentwood.... either way the diploma can be completed anytime.Again Rookie deals aren’t what they used to be. Falling to the back half of the first round will cost millions. Way more life changing then staying another year with 250-300 extra carries for free and risking an knee injury in college, be young and get to your second contract ASAPI never said or implied it couldn’t. My point is the money he is looking at isn’t what it used to be. He also can parlay another season into a possible 1st round choice and maybe even top 10 pick thus making life changing money. Again his current projection is he “might” go as high as second round. That’s not life changing money in today’s NFL.

not life changing money??!?!?!? maybe in your household it isnt but in the harris family tree it will be more than anyone has made in 10 years of work.I never said or implied it couldn’t. Agree. NFL money is definitely life changing. And COULD be life changing to any household (poor or rich) if utilized correctly. Unfortunately, most professional sports figures don't know how to manage their money. And most folks that come from a household similar to Najee's may have a difficult time managing $20 let alone millions. I'm hoping the young man Major/Minor has a few courses in business & finances. He'll definitely have the bucks to buy himself an Enterprise Rental Car business/dealership in no time. Just secure the bag. And btw, his mom can be his agent.not life changing money??!?!?!? maybe in your household it isnt but in the harris family tree it will be more than anyone has made in 10 years of work.

Question for you Truth. Would your position soften or even change if the young man does all the due diligence necessary and the feedback is he will bump into the first round. This isn't far fetched as it just happened last year with Jacobs going to the Raiders in Round 1. At this point last year I don't believe Jacobs was being discussed as a potential 1st rounder.Felt so strong about your statement posted it twice? I’m not sure how much many of you people think these guys are getting but really only first round picks grab big bucks.
dont assume this player will be one of the statistics that are broke. hell even first rounders become brokeOk. Didn’t realize you were their financial advisor. Reality is many players are broke within 5 years of leaving game. With contracts how they are now and his size and talent, another year in school he could realistically parlay that into a top 10 selection getting 20 plus million or so guaranteed. Leaving now he might go second day where he might get 2 million in guaranteed money. You being his financial advisor would know best I guess if his situation is so dire taking a pay cut 10x under what’s possible is warranted.
Didn't mean to post it twice. I was trying to add to the last part about Najee's mother and cutting out the MM. In the process I accidentally re-posted. And yes, I feel very strongly about my statement. Why shouldn't I? Securing the bag after this season is the smart way to go if you manage your money correctly moving forward. What would you say if Najee has a CAREER ending injury next year during an Alabama practice or game? Should have secured the bag, right???? And when the smoke clears Najee could end up in the first round if he continues to produce like he did this past weekend. What defense will he face that's better/tougher than LSU.Felt so strong about your statement posted it twice?
