The Sierra Foothill League has placed three teams in the finals of the SJS Division I and II finals in what has become a common occurrence. In Division I, Folsom ran for more than 300 yards in shutting out Inderkum 45-0. Folsom hasn’t won a game by less than 28 points this season. Oak Ridge shutout Turlock 26-0 as the Bulldogs’ season ended in El Dorado Hills for the fifth time in six years according to the Turlock Journal. Joaquin Graves-Mercado threw touchdown passes to Kaleb Edwards and Issac Pierce. The Trojans have given up 29 total points during their six game winning streak.
In Division II, Grant overcame some special teams issues to win at St. Mary’s-Stockton 28-21 as it vies for its third straight SJS title (the last two came in Division III). The Pacers relied on its power running game to control the game flow and held the Rams to less than 200 total yards. In Rocklin, the Thunder scored 23 points in the second half to beat Manteca 30-7. Reeve Slone played well in the second half and connected with Mavrik Collins for three touchdowns.
In the NCS, Pittsburg had the advantage in the third quarter, but De La Salle came from behind with a Dominic Kelley touchdown run to win 10-7 for the program’s 32nd straight NCS title. The Spartans will now be off for three weeks as it awaits the CIF Open Division State Bowl game. It will be their first Open Division appearance since 2019. Pittsburg’s season stays alive and it will compete with San Ramon Valley for the Division I title in a rematch of the 2023 Division I championship game.
St. Ignatius claimed the CCS Open Division (first since 2012) as it beat St. Francis 10-7. The Wildcats have now won six one possession games this year and get a bye week before a NorCal bowl. St. Francis drops down to Division I and will play Los Gatos, which beat Riordan 35-28 in a thrilling game on Saturday. Owen Patu had two touchdown catches including the game winner as the Wildcats reached the Division I title game for a second straight year.
