NCP Pick'em - Week 8

The contest is tightening up for second with Farmair edging up at lead. There were some very good games this week.

I had Antelope as my original pick and changed it the next day. I also had Ripon over MC until the last minute today. I had action at a perfect score but second guessing myself did me in. Back to the drawing board. This was a tough pick'em and the scores results reflect it.

Great picking Farmair...I can't believe I have a shot at another perfect score. In any event lots of good scores this week. Keeping away from the dreadful week is sometimes a tough task. I've also been ahead in some years and played conservative only to get caught and place 3rd a couple times with a week left. If you were at where you are with one week left, you could pretty much ensure a a top three place, but still some to go. No pressure ...:) LOL

There were a lot of good scores. Essentially everyone picked most winners other than Antelope. I tried to get cute for the first time because at first look i liked most visiting teams . So i went against the grain a bit. It cost me. Ah i think you had Del campo originally just at higher spot. You only lost 3 points this week. so moving Del Campo from 5-2 was minor

Mudds that will be the lowest score in the history of pickems.
There you go, again, HEATER. Kicking a man and his new dart-throwing monkey when they're down, really, really, really down. Yes, 17-20 points for a Pick'em is about as low as it gets. I asked my new monkey, I said, "Beat the Heat, tell me, how did you pick so many teams that wound-up losing so many pick'em points? And, while yer at it, explain why you picked Antelope at 10 when hardly anyone thought Antelope would beat Campo and no one came even close to picking Antelope as a 10?"

Monkey scratches his balls, gives me a look, cocks his head and says, "Muds, except for St. Francis and Salinas, which I know you wanted to win and you'd have questioned me to death about those picks before Mr. Streak's 7:00 p.m. deadline, I picked the teams in each of the other eight game whose first letter in their school name was closest to the letter "A" ie., Chico over Pleasant Valley, Bear River over Placer, etc. Kapeesh, Kimosabie?"

I said, "Monkey, that's the dumbest system I've ever heard of. You've humilated me and given THE HEATER the green light to crucify me! What kind of moron are you?!"

And just before I fired him and kicked him out of the house, he said, "I'm just a monkey. What did you expect from a monkey? Rocket science?" Just before I slammed the door on his sorry arse, I think I heard him say, "Oh, by the way, can I have my darts back, please?" Dang simian. I gave him his darts back, you bet. Now I'm worried the SPCA won't believe my excuse that I'm an acupuncturist...and the monkey was an unhappy customer! Muds

No I'm sure I had Antelope at 5 on my original post. Once I figured DC was the home team I instantly plugged DC into Antelope place. But none of that matters now anyway. I gotta get my mojo back before it's too late. Farmair and NorCalSportsFan are playing for keeps. Hope Streak One throw a curve ball at us next week by putting a few SoCal or Central Valley teams in the mix.

I'd like to thank my new dart-throwing monkey for these picks.
Oddly, his name is BEAT THE HEAT! (Hopefully, I've got his
name right and didn't mistakenly insert an "H" for the letter "M".
Muds :p

10 Antelope
09 Bear River
08 California
07 Chico (21-20)
06 Live Oak
05 Modesto Christain
04 Napa (I'ma belleeveer MRJones)
03 Pinole Valley
02 Salinsa
01 St. Francis
MUD's that 9 spot would have looked REALLY good had you had Placer in it,I tried giving everyone a heads up and a little info maybe you just over looked it a little........

Thanks NorCal!! You are a class act my friend. We are both needing St Mary today and with you picking them that almost assures the win for them as hot as you have been. Pretty impressive to be going for 2 perfect scores in a row. Now had Yuba City and River Valley been a pick em game I could have gotten hurt. I would have picked YC and they lost on a last second field goal.

MUDDs,good thing in booting that dart throwing monkey your more of a blind dirt scratching dog type....just giving you a lil heads up info buddy......Go Placer

Many in SJS know and call me "Champ",not tooting my own horn it's simply short for "championcif75".After further review with results now in it appears this weeks pick em's was very TOUGH indeed, many of you did very well and some felt green banana dart throwing pain at #9.........wouldn't you agree Mudds? Go Placer

Mudds,I'm rotflmao please believe me when I say this is all in fun my friend......simply ALL in FUN!!!!! GO PLACER

Wow if my Bulldogs would have held on to the lead with less than 5 minutes remaining and depending on St. Mary's winning today I would have gotten 54 pts. That's another reason why it was a big heart breaking loss last night.:( I went all in and it almost paid off big-time.

GO VACAVILLE BULLDOGS!!!

I totally get going all in on ones home team. My Chico pick was a bit cavalier at #10 but how sweet if they had pulled the upset again this year. That pick may have cost me a shot at the top 5 but I can live with that...

Same here, heck if your Chico and my Bulldogs had pulled the upsets last night I would be on the edge of a perfect score:D:D:D depending on St. Mary's.

You only go all in when your team is the favorite. If not you shouldn't go above pick #5.

This is the second time in history of my Pick'ems that picking my Vacaville at 10 has cost me a chance to win the pick'em for the first time.

Oh well
Proud of my Bulldogs!!!

Vacaville was a stop away on Napa's tying drive from winning that game, so at the end I was happy I picked them that high they had Napa, they just couldn't get those few stops needed to hold on.

End of third qtr: Saint Mary's leads Pinole Valley 21-7.

Halftime: Saint Mary's 21, Pinole Valley 7
The Nasty's also need St. Mary's to win for the perfect score this week. Looks like several peps could get 'em all right. At least it's my 1 point confidence pick... A few weeks to go and I'm back in business!

Sorry PG I could only do that if I was a De LaSalle fan;)...Until then as long as Streak throws me a bone a couple times a year and includes Chico teams in the pickem' I'll continue to give them a high confidence pick.
