NCS could use coin tosses for NorCal reps

I guess the sarcasm was missed.
Larry you are hilarious, play the games regardless of air quality in the 300+ range, big deal a few kids get valley fever and several more go to the hospital for breathing treatment. Better yet, let’s borrow SLV’s helmet mics and hear the QB’s hack up pieces of their lungs. We can also use SLV’s go pros and use the instant replay feature to see blackened lung particles on the turf. We can really take it up a notch and play at Folsom so the lung particles compliment the blue turf. Worst case is the smoke inhalation takes a year or two off a kids life.

I hear they're even talking of cancelling the Cal-Stanford Big Game this weekend... Just the consideration of cancelling of a big event like that is telling of how big a deal this smoky air is.

In a text message to NCS athletic directors, section Associate Commissioner Bri Niemi said that the section was unable to come to a consensus about which teams could realistically make the hours-long trip north and that because of that, decided to just push the games back another week.

Leadership at its weakest. In a time like this you notify them where their next game is going to be and they show up or don’t!! NCS has now ensured a nightmare ending for Div 2 through 5. All #1 seeds are at risk. Section Champ and NorCal Bowl representatives to be determined by a coin flip.

IF they are to use coin flip it should be for this round not finals--that makes no sense so they can do 2 things..

1) coin flip quaterfinals and makes semi Saturday 24th and Finals Dec 1

OR..

2) play games quarters Tues or Wed 21st or 22nd, most kids out for holiday, semi Monday 26th and final Sat Dec 1

Seems doable assuming air is playable Tuesday, if not default to option 2. But coin flipping a championship game should not even be considered

Too late. Already determined by the NCS Executive Committee

When you consider that those in attendance represent Antioch(eliminated), Newark Memorial(eliminated), Acalanes(did not make playoffs), Liberty (a school that could go up against DLS and would benefit from coin toss), Encinal (#8 v #1 seed could benefit from coin toss, Miramonte(#5 v #4 seed could benefit from coin toss) and Eureka. I can see three that don't care and only two that wouldn't necessarily be thrilled with that option. However, as competitors none of them should want to see it come to this conclusion.

Other than DLS the closest to a "lock" to win their division is CN in D3.

So no shock that Eureka (D3 #2 seed and likely CN finalist opponent) would vote for the coin flip.

The sad thing is that 3 out of the 4 #1 seeds in Div 2-5 are North bay schools. It just wouldn’t have happened if the majority were East Bay.

I wrote a strongly written letter to the NCS talking about how this coin flip to decide NorCal participants is ridiculous and outrageous. I suggested they let the higher seeds move on and go from the semifinals. Most of the outcomes for the quarterfinals would favor the higher seed anyway. Having the top four teams battling it out in the semifinals is way way way better than having a team's season and player's championship dreams being thrown away by the flip of a coin, not to mention the NCS would generate much more revenue playing the championship games.
