Ok so I believe #1 and #2 seeds have been sealed up by Marin catholic and Acalanes .................................. But after that it gets a bit more murky especially if Newman there 4th loss this weekend to windsor. You have DN sitting at 4 with one loss with a weaker schedule due to being moved up a divisions and fulfilling schedule commitments. And also the 2 loss tennyson and petaluma that have both had quality wins. What are your guys Thoughts....... Also is Marin Catholic going to open?

The NCS is using the same format for the Open Division that was used last year in which there was the Open/D1 bracket
Yes, but it's not an "Open" in the sense that the top 4 teams will participate. It's just a streamlined way to get the perceived #1 and #2 to play for a title, while throwing two sacrificial lambs to them in the first round.

I’m not saying you are at all wrong but I think the original intention was to give the #2 NCS school a shot at a post season bowl game. The NCS version of the Folsom Rule.

The difference between this version and the Folsom Rule is that in this version the teams still have to play DLS. The Folsom rule avoids DLS altogether.

Yes, but the post trail originated with the thought of Marin Catholic going to the NCS Open Division. That won't happen. If you were talking about the top 4 teams in the section, I could see it, but that's not how (and why, as you pointed out) this division was created.

I still think it's ridiculous that they get to hide in D-4, though. In every other section, every small, powerful private school plays in a higher division. It doesn't have to be D-1, but they should at least be in D-2.

Marin Catholic played a really weak schedule this year. We called it out early. Not sure why but @MC415 will know. This is a very good team but how does it stack up against other Great MC teams having played a soft schedule and the MCAL wasn’t good this year either. San Marin is ok but there best win was by 3 against a mediocre analy team.
MC would be my favorite to win D2-D4 this year.

Yeah no clue ? 3 D1 teams 2 of them will be playoffs teams with Logan and Antioch and Spanish Springs is the Northern Nevada 5A semis so not great but like they scheduled non playoff AAA teams. Agreed NCS should have a Divison with Campo, El Cerrito, Newman, Rancho, Windsor, Acalanes, MC, San Marin……something like that

Make no mistake though. MC to me is the premier program in that small/medium school range. Just an outstanding program.

Keep in mind that MC has 785 students total. They really are a small school.

Sacred Heart Prep only has about 640, yet they're slated to be the #3 seed in the CCS D-I playoffs.

Palma is also about 640, currently projected to be the #8 seed in the CCS D-I bracket.

San Joaquin Memorial only have a little more than 500, but they're the #4 seed in CS D-I.

Garces has somewhere between 480-700 (depending on who you ask), but they're still in CS D-I.

Central Catholic has about 450, yet they're in SJS D-I.

But, please go on about how small MC is and why they shouldn't be held to similar standards.

to be fair there is no reason why they aren’t like in the past in the same division as Campo or schools of that size basically D2 or D3

NCS needs to consolidate to like 5 Divisions max…..D2 and 3 can be 1 division with CN and MC in there
