NCS division 1

De La Salle is clearly the #1 seed. Only two losses, both to legit powerhouses. Lots of impressive blowout wins. It seems that the one common property with teams that have beaten them in the last few years is legit d1-level bigs, usually more than one. I don't see anything like that in NCS.

Freedom has to be #2, even though you never know which Freedom team will come out of the locker room. They tend to play to the level of their opposition; great if they're facing a top team (beat Folsom, for example), often ugly if they're not (12-point win over a then 1--12 Turlock, down by 9 after 1st q). Makes 'em at least a wild-card to upset DLS if they come up with one of their super efforts, even without having huge guys in the paint.

The rest is a toss-up between Heritage, Dougherty Valley, Dublin, Berkeley, Pittsburg, Monte Vista and probably another or others I've left out by mistake, but if I was forced to make a call, I'd have to go with Heritage for #3 at the moment.

Do not count out Monte Vista.. They have the best coach around. DLS plays to competition. The level steps up a lot during playoffs, anyone can beat anyone on any given night. THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME

Kiddman, with Heritage currently sitting at 3rd place in the BVAL recently losing to Freedom, I just don't see how they'll be seeded ahead of the DFAL champ be it Dougherty or Dublin.

Very true. But that doesn't mean Heritage isn't the 3rd best team either. NCS seeding has a lot of flaws.

The Pitt-Freedom game at Pitt tonight should have some implications on the D1 seeding, especially if Pitt upsets them to move into a tie for 1st place.

I'm just going by the eyeball test... Overlooked Pittsburg's win over Heritage, too. Pittsburg is one of the few high-rated East Bay teams I haven't seen play this year, but in any case, I think the BVAL is stronger overall than the DFAL this year.

And yes, never count out the 3-legged hosses from Monte Vista... (No, I'm not taking a cheap shot at them, just having a little fun. Their horse silhouette logo looks like it has a hind leg missing, at least at first glance.) :)

BVAL might even be stronger than EBAL this year

IMO, it is a crap shoot after DLS. Do not forget Castro Valley and San Leandro. It appears the Pirates might win that league. They struggled earlier but had a big win over Castro Valley last night. They play a bunch of juniors who are very good. I liked Berkeley earlier in the season but they seem to be struggling right now.

agree with you ncshewson. BVAL has really good depth this year. Freedom, Pitt, Heritage, and Liberty have demonstrated they can compete with anybody.

Seeding could come down to strength of schedule.

Can someome make a legitimate 1-16 list?
a little more clarity after tonight's results
1-DLS
2-Freedom
3-Dougherty
4-Monte Vista
5-Dublin
6-Heritage
7-Foothill
8-Castro Valley
9-Pittsburg
10-James Logan
11-Berkeley
12-San Leandro
13-Liberty
14-Amador Valley
15-California
16-Clayton Valley

The following games in the next week could loom large in the final seedings,
MV-DLS
Foothill-AV
Castro Valley-BOD
Castro Valley-Berkeley
Liberty-Pitt
Logan-NM
San Leandro-Berkeley
San Leandro-BOD
CVC-College Park

San leandro is a dangerous team. supposedly they got there point guard healthy. With the athletes they have. They may upset somebody!

The hottest team in Ncs d 1 may be dublin at the moment. They have won 8 in a row
With wins over doughtery valley And they beat a good miramonte team without falls things may be coming together for the gaels at the right time. This is bones40 had to find my old username and
Turn it back on cant figure out or like this new format at all.

Hey Bones, I lose things all the time! Did you see the Dublin MM game? Is so, give a report. It says alot about Dublin that they could get a win without a key player. Especially against a team as good as MM.

Miramonte had a double digit lead and got conservative in the second half and couldn't close the deal. They stood around on offense trying to protect the lead in the 4th quarter and passed the ball around the perimeter until the shot clock was winding down, and then put up bad shot after bad shot, when Dublin wasn't getting a steal. Once the lead got down to about 4 you could just tell the Gaels were going to win. Eddie I. is a nice player but when he gets the ball with 3 seconds left on the shot clock, it's pretty obvious what he's going to do. Nice comeback for Dublin. especially with Falls out with the flu.

NCS division 1 top 5 seeds my guess would be 1 dela 2 freedom 3 Dougherty valley 4 dublin 5 heritage
And 6 monte vista. heritage and monte vista could flip flop at 5 and 6 would give the edge to heritage at 5 with there league being better then the ebal this year which is very rare to say that.
