I think regardless of the EBAL tourney outcome that Dublin with their regular season record in the EBAL counts. That means in my opinion that SRV or CVC get moved back to division playoffs.

Newman needs to beat Windsor tonight to get a bid.
That would put them at 26-2 and outright league champ. (Even then they may not get into open)

There are definitely enough quality teams to increase to 8…….Branson, Campo, Dublin, along with the list from above.
Branson was the team that immediately came to mind as belonging in the Open. I wonder if Campo's recent struggles will delegate them to lower division. I would watch out for Las Lomas in D2 as they are playing better than anyone from the DFAL right now.

I believe they are limited to 6, due to the fact the NCS as a whole has a limited amount of NorCal spots. When the NCS Open was created, they took 2 NorCal spots each from D1, D2 & D3. So if they were to take more than 6, somebody doesn’t get an autobid. Same reason no D4 or D5 teams can’t get put into the NCS Open.

Headed to San Ramon this evening to catch DV vs Granada - haven't seen Beasley or Sevilla in person ever so am excited to see them hoop. Hopefully they have something left in the tank after their SRV comeback. I believe that Granada has two big bigs so it'll be interesting game of quickness vs size.

Good list. Will they put SRV at the 2 seed when they finished 5-4 in the EBAL and didn’t make the league tourney finals? DLS was 7-2 in the EBAL, beat SRV head to head and both were knocked out in heartbreakers in the league tourney semis.

I would think the others under consideration for Open spots are Moreau, Campo & the #1 seeds you listed above.

Moreau is 22-4 with wins over a solid Folsom squad, Grant & Monte Vista. Their overall schedule may not be strong enough. I was impressed with them last season, but have not seen them in person this season. That kid Hampton is a beast.

Campo 19-7 has wins over Riordan, Branson, CVC, Oakland Tech & Grant. Campo & CVC will end up tied for 1st place in league and split with each other. If a tiebreaker is the most recent game between them, then it would fall to Campo. Plus they’re a known entity and defending NCS Open champs.

I could see SRV #1 seed in NCS D2. Look out. That’s a heck of a squad. Las Lomas is another team somebody mentions that has caught being hot at right time. Fun times ahead.

I agree with observer22. It is a very good list. It will be tough for the selection group. Moreau's league is the possible downfall , but looking at their record, they have some impressive wins, Folsom, Grant, Monte Vista and impressive win over Fairmont Prep who was ranked 17 in the state when they played I believe. Tough loss to SJM but missing two key players per the Mercury news.

Campo has impressive record so they definitely deserve consideration as stated, they will probably end up tied for 1st place. Their list of wins is also very impressive.

Here is my list:

1 DV
2 Granada
3 DeLa
4 Salesian
5 CVC
6 Moreau / Campo / SRV / Branson

that 6 spot is tough!

Tonight’s games that have a final bearing on tomorrow’s selections are:

Granada at Dougherty
Acalanes at Campo
Windsor at Cardinal Newman

A Granada win could put them above DV.
A Campo loss would surely drop them out.
A CN loss would surely drop them out.
The rest have a completed resume.

Agreed observer!

The top 4 seeds have gotta be DV, DLS, Granada, SRV, with DV at the 1 spot... The other three, no idea what order... Seems like they've all beaten each other at some point.

Then there are four with very good resume's to fill the two slots remaining. CVC, Campo, Salesian, Branson. Mayyyybe a fifth argument could be made for Cardinal Newman, but their loss tonight makes it hard for any argument to stick.

Have fun, seeding committee...

Newman is out with loss too Windsor. Agree on others.
I know we’ve had a handful of kids leave area for greener pastures but I can’t recall more parity in the rankings. There are so many teams that can beat each other.
I look forward to catching a handful of games.

Anyone know if the seedings are on NFHS network like they have been in the past? I could not find it in the upcoming events like I usually do.

Curious, how do you justify SRV over Dublin? Dublin beat SRV at their place and had a better overall league record. Also Dublin's strength of schedule was higher.

Dublin overall record 18-9….SRV 23-6. Strength of record almost identical and SRV biggest lost only by 6 pts. Dublins beat down by Granada did not help. But definitely could make an argument for Dublin being in Open.

What I can't believe is how tough the EBAL was this year! I believe Granada was the #6 seed in the EBAL tourney. I hope a few of these teams are placed in D2 division in NorCal Regionals so they can advance to the State Finals.

Get rid of the NCS Open. Taking 3/4/5 teams from the same league after they just had a league tournament what’s the point. Let all semi finalists D1-5 advance to State playoffs.

Definitely toughest league in NorCal, but was not expecting that.
It's that money speaking

Interesting that Redwood is D2 while league champ Branson is top seed in D
That's where the NCS website has 'em from the beginning. Unless you get into Open, it's all based on enrollment (except for a small few that have petitioned up or down, and those had to petition before the season started).

or those that have been moved up due to "competitive equity:

Las Lomas... With their late-season run of big wins, they grabbed the D2 3-seed, solid stuff!

The D2 bracket should be wild. You have to make the finals to move on to NorCal, and there are no easy routes. Montgomery, Alameda and Benicia are seeded 6,7 & 8.

It’s so strong. Newman is 25-3 (all 3 losses to Windsor) and is a 5 seed. Ukiah isnt terrible at 23-4 and they are a 10. Going to be brutal. Then you have campo , Redwood, and LL. Could you imagine if SRV was included?

Does anyone know why Clayton Valley has to play at Mt Eden even though they are #1 seed
Stupid NCS rule, all league champs get 1st round home game. It’s makes no sense-s o your reward is home game but you play #1 seed..thanks. They did it to O’Dowd girls in D2, travel to Vallejo. They could put that team at 14 and play another non league champ and make 3 seed travel but instead make top seed travel.. doesn’t make sense
