What is each Division looking like as far as seeding goes?

Who will be the top two or three in each Division?

D1

D2

D3

D4

D5

D6

D7?

Does Vintage make it in D1? They lost to Casa Grande who got manhandled by Antioch. Does a softer league and not winning any preseason games take play? They still have a chance for a league title which will grant them an auto berth and a trip to DLS or Pitt probably. Other divisions seem to have a clear top 2-4 teams. D4 is the worst Cardinal Newman and Marin Catholic have literally 0 competition. Tam, tennyson, and Petaluma have nice teams but not even close. 6 rank on Cal preps in Maria Carillo (1 win), vallejo can make it. I only see maybe 6 team eligible or wanting to apply.

Is nor cal using Cal preps for the playoffs the same as So Cal?

In CIFSS the top 8 teams are placed in the "open bracket".

If Nor cal did the same, as of now the teams in the Nor cal open bracket would be:

St. Francis
DLS
Rocklin
Folsom
Buchanan
Pittsburg
Serra
menlo Atherton
Bellermine

This would be the best open bracket but probably won't happen due to too many silo sections. For football, Nor Cal should have 1 big section like the CIFSS. That way it solves alot of problems

The one issue i have with Calpreps only is it can discount head to head matchups.

Prep2Prep did a nice job of looking at the NCS projections

That’s a nice write up. But they make no mention of the NCS Open, which people on here have said is a 2-team bracket (most likely DLS & Pitt) where the loser gets inserted into the D1 bracket finals? Does anyone know if that NCS Open bracket is actually happening, or if it was just being discussed?

"NCS football playoffs will be conducted in eight (8) divisions: Open/D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7 and 8-person. Current divisions are posted on the NCS website. Each NCS member school shall be classified for postseason competition by competitive equity (See NCS Bylaw 507H)."

This is off the NCS website, and it appears Open and D1 would be combined somehow.

Way to water down … Div 1 and 2 ok. 3 and 4 should be combined and 5 6 and 7 should be one. Going to be some bad teams making playoffs for no reason. Only need 4 divisions
Yes and no. Isn’t Rocklin a D2 team? Same with Granite Bay? How about Wilcox and Los Gatos? There are plenty of teams in each section should be playing in a higher division. I think the NCS is merely doing what the other sections have been doing, which is give their section the best chance to put their best teams in Cif NorCal bowls.

I honestly don’t know if and why the sections would even care that much about if their teams make a SBG unless they see a good profit on it. Does anyone know how much the sections make if their teams are selected for a SBG?
Seems that the most important factor and driving force for the sections is money. You would think the sections should worry about putting the best and most competitive divisions together for their section first and foremost.

IMO there is more interest in a DLS/Pitt match up or a Rocklin vs. Granite Bay than what the regional SBGs have been getting. Pretty sure the CIF SS D-1 final outdraws the Open SBG most years. Be curious to what the attendance numbers have looked like the between section finals and the SBG regional games and state “championships”.
