Here are my picks for the finals an winners plus a non-top four team to watch

Open: Campolindo over De La Salle. Hard to have an underdog in the Open bracket, but Northgate is intersting

Division I: Clayton Valley Charter over Moreau Catholic. Outside of Moreau, I think Monte Vista is dangerous at No. 11

Divisison II: San Ramon Valley over Salesian. Not a deep bracket, but No. 5 Alameda is a lower team to watch

Division III: SPSV over Piedmont. Archie Williams is at No. 4, but they could pose problems with their size.

Division IV: University over Marin Catholic. No. 8 St. Mary's has four of its 6 losses to ranked teams.

Division V: Cloverdale over Head-Royce

Streak, Montgomery in d2… win over Branson and 2 pt loss too st pats… they play good d.
D3. I think Archie gives st pats issues.
D4 don’t count out arcata.

Open Division - DE LA SALLE - They're dangerous and well coached. But CAMPO always seems to find a way to pull it out...

Division 1 - DOUGHERTY VALLEY - kids look like they are having fun and the got a high scoring star in Beasely. Clayton Valley players don't look like they are having fun. That will catch up sooner or later.

Division 2 - SALESIAN - They're good, athletic, well coached and they've been there before. Strong schedule.

Division 3 - ST PATS ST VINCENT - I don't care if they play the Cal Bears. Thats my pick! Piedmont is tough as well.

Division 4 - MARIN CATHOLIC - Well coached, physical

Division 5 - CLOVERDALE. CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN might surprise a couple of teams, but then again they might not.

OPEN: Campolindo over De La Salle. Miramonte could beat De La Salle. I think the Mats pose a tougher match for DLS than Granada, but Granada could give Miramonte problems.

DIVISION 1: Dougherty Valley over Bishop O'Dowd. Healthy Connor Sevilla puts the Wildcats over the edge.

DIVISION 2: Salesian over San Ramon Valley. Tyler Harris is going to become a household name.

DIVISION 3: SPSV over Branson. I like Branson's defense to beat Piedmont's offense, and I think the Bruins can score against Archie Williams to overcome a tough semifinal matchup.

DIVISION 4: University over Marin Catholic. Winning at Arcata will be tough, but the Red Devils' unremarkable results at the Bambauer Classic came without Joey Kennedy. Point guard Grant Lyon also played just two games in that tournament. Kennedy is one of the best juniors in Northern California and deserves more attention.

DIVISION 5: Urban over Head-Royce. Sophomore point guard Jake Rodriguez can work wonders for the Blues, who are more battle-tested than the likes of Cloverdale.

Division 1 - DOUGHERTY VALLEY - kids look like they are having fun and the got a high scoring star in Beasely. Clayton Valley players don't look like they are having fun. That will catch up sooner or later.
Clayton Valley has great size and a really good defensive team but chemistry is lacking. The three teams ahead of them in the DAL Foothill have guys who have played together forever, and the Ugly Eagles lack that. Dougherty Valley's role players are much better than past years and can take the Wildcats over the edge. Beasley and Sevilla can combine for 50 a night, but they aren't the only ones who can pull the weight.

Salesian is super interesting. Obviously they had the pedigree with coaching and current talent to make a run, but it hasn't happened yet. They have played a tough schedule, but do they have enough to go to another level this year?

Yea I'm not completely sure what's going on with them. But the talent is there!

In what has been a very trying season with
Covid, schedule changes players in and out of
The line up and basically your team looking
different each week why does something
have to be going on with salesian they are 9-7
And still in the post season nothing wrong
With celebrating st pat's success the were simply the better team this season.

Salesian may only be 9-8, but they’ve played a much tougher schedule than SPSV. They’ve got great talent and coaching. Should they gel during the postseason (always the goal), they could find themselves in a NorCal or State final. If they play like they did up at Gridley, then their season could end much sooner.

Open: CAMPO. All the games in this bracket should be incredible to see. But the Coug chemistry is second to none, and they have Aidan Mahaney to bail them out of any trouble.

D1: CVC. Haven't heard about Sevilla's status, but if he's back, I pick DV.

D2: I'll go with the chalk, SRV.

D3: SPSV, lacking in size, but not heart or skill.

D4: Tough one for me, haven't seen many of these teams play... But I *have* seen UNIVERSITY, and was impressed. That is one well-coached, locked-in ballclub. If fully healthy, watch the bleep out...

D5: I'll go with URBAN mostly due to SoS.

Just for the heck of it, I'll go with ST. BERNARD'S in D6.

Open - Campo, they just know how to win
D1 - Odowd.
D2- SRV. Salesian if Tyler Harris returns. he hasnt played in a month
D3 - SPSV
D4- University
D5 - Urban
D6 - no clue

Open - Campo over DLS
D1 - CVC over DV
D2- SRV over Salesian
D3 - SPSV over Piedmont
D4- University over MC
D5 - Head Royce over Cloverdale
D6 - St. Bernard over Valley Christian

D4-6 is my strength as it's about all I see.

D4 - I'll go with University but obviously Marin Catholic and them would be a fun show. Also don't count out Justin Siena. They are a fun team to watch and could beat any of these guys on a given night. Arcata would by my "soft spot" pick, but I just don't see them getting through University and Marin Catholic/Justin Siena.

D5- I'm going with Urban. More battle tested. Cloverdale is ripe for a loss to a strong team, IMO even though they have a cake walk to the semi's. They are well balanced, but don't have much size. A fun team to watch though. Head Royce and Urban both play tougher schedules, especially Urban so we'll see. Clear Lake also has a soft spot for me, but they are just too small and not as loaded as they were 2-3 years ago.

D6 - St. Bernards should run away with this one. I guess SF could get them as they did a week and a half ago, but I think that may have been a one off...

Open Division - Northgate....Will beat Dublin, Revenge Game against Campo, then Upset over DLS
D1 - Dougherty Valley.....Going with the chalk here.
D2 - I like Redwood.....Will beat Benicia, Salesian, and then SRV in low scoring Championship
D3 - Branson.....Will play Archie Williams in Championship (Size too much for SPSV).
D4 - Marin Catholic......Will play Uni in the Championship
D5 - Cloverdale.....Will beat Urban in a game they get to play at home, then they will beat HR again

Your like the Skip Bayless on NCP. Just say stuff for others amusement. Northgate & Redwood. Really?

As ludicrous as it sounds for Ayalar to pick Northgate, they actually do have a really good team. They have quality wins over Piedmont, Liberty, SRV, St. Augustine (SD), CVC & Miramonte. They’ve also played top seed Campo to the wire twice this season.

I’ve got Dublin beating them in a close battle tomorrow night, and I’ll be in attendance, but I would not be the least bit surprised if the Broncos take down the Gaels.

The 6 teams in the Open Division are all capable of winning it all. Obviously Campo and DLS are the heavy favorites as they each only have to win 2 games, but all 6 are battle tested in 2 of the toughest leagues in the state this year.

Should be fun. Get that popcorn ready! 🍿

Archie Williams? Is this a new HS or did it get renamed? Lived in the Bay Area for 40 years and never heard of this school.

Open: Campolindo, Aidan Mahaney or Cade Bennett can bail them out if need be against any of the teams they face
D1: Clayton Valley, if Sevilla is not at full strength for Dougherty
D2: SRV, had some signature wins including over DV
D3: SPSV, makes up for lack in size with skill
D4: Marin Catholic
D5: Cloverdale

It does sound crazy but he brings up all valid points. I personally think campo is on a mission this year and is comfortable playing in big games. So I like campo.
But the other picks aren’t just thrown up there. The top teams in the MCAL were loaded this year. SPSV is not going to have a cake walk going thru a very big Archie Williams (drake) team and then Branson. Redwood is another team that shouldn’t be taken likely.

we shall see!

Larry Legend33. What is your issue with SPSV? You have been negative talking them since the year started. You said they weren't even close to being a top 10 team etc. etc. etc. Now they cant beat this team, cant beat that team..... What happened, somebody from SPSV stole your girlfriend from you back in the day? Broke your heart. Lol. Why don't you want to give those boys any credit? Too funny.... Please educate me, cuz all I see is looks like you drink HATORADE all day. Lol.

Regarding AW
They want score in 40’s. Redwood and AW is a slug fest.

DLS for years won many games scoring in low 40’s.

AW scored 76 and beat Rancho by 40 last night. They can score .

nothing at all! I just don’t think they are that great. Just my opinion. I mean a 2 pt win against Montgomery and 4 pt win against Windsor. Outside of the redwood empire those teams are pretty average. We shall see because d3 will test them! It’s no cake walk.
Sonoma you guys should take care of by double digits.

I can respect your honest response. That was very early in the season though. I'm sure they've been trying to build up gradually as they have.
Impressive wins against Salesian. That is no easy task. Sonoma will be feisty. They have a good guard who signed d2 who can play. You guys should win by 15-20 though.

It’s hard to believe #2 seed Salesian only beat #15 seeded 9-17 Las Lomas by 3 tonight. The Knights finished the season with 6 straight losses. Admittedly they were in one of the top 2 leagues in NCS and are battle tested, but I don’t think anyone saw this game being that close. While not one of their better squads this season, most, if not all prognosticators had Salesian at least making the finals in D2 and moving on to NorCal. Hopefully this scare will wake them up.

All teams are allowing fans in, they just prefer you buy the ticket on the app.

I went to the Stuart Hall/Middletown game in Middletown. Nice little drive. A Surprising outburst by my Knights tonight. Winning 63-33.

They will be an interesting matchup for Arcata.

It was a good scare. Las Lomas played hard and really wanted it. Salesian should have most of their players back (finally) by Saturday, so it will be interesting.
