Finally got an update on the Dons scrimmage. This is from an Amador parent/coach, so take it for what its worth...
The scrimmage between Amador, Deer Valley, and Logan was really good. No issues, a few minor injuries.
Amador- HUGE numbers on the Varsity level. I think he said they dressed in the 70's. Offensively they looked OK kept everything really Vanilla, but the returning QB looked really good. Hes a big 6'5 230 lb duel threat. He should pose difficulties for the EBAL. They have a kid young WR who is explosive, and can take the top off the defense. Defensively, what they lack in size, they make up in experience. Lots of seniors on this side of the ball, including the QB. They gave it to Deer Valley on both sides of the ball.
Deer Valley- Much improved from the previous few years. Still light on numbers, but they have the best athlete on the field. Hes a DB and QB, and reminds him of the twin brother from a few years ago. Said they should battle in the BVAL for some W's.
Logan- Said by far the biggest surprise on the night. Looked like an entirely different program than what faced Foothill in NCS last season. They were big and physical, and although they don't have the athletes they used to have, they should be good in the next few years. I believe he said they have a Soph, and Frosh competing for the starting QB job, and they both ran the offense well.
Football starts Friday! Good luck to all the programs. Hope everyone had a great summer. Boys of fall are back.
