Nevada head coach Jay Norvell has led Nevada to 15 wins the past two seasons and reached a bowl game in back-to-back years. In this year’s early signees, the Wolf Pack signed three players from Northern California.

Davion Blackwell 6-foot-1, 205 pounds LB Folsom

Blackwell made his decision on Wednesday and is a key signing for Nevada in the early signing period. He is one of the best athletes in the linebacker group in this class. He runs well, is physical when he gets to the ball and can stay on the field in passing situations. Blackwell also visited Fresno State and San Jose State.

Peter Motini 5-foot-11, 220 pounds LB Foothill-Pleasanton

Motini was overshadowed by other players in the East Bay this year, but Nevada found a hidden gem with his signing. A two-way player for the Falcons, Motini was a physical ball carrier with speed to break containment once he reached the outside. He also showed good athleticism in making plays as a wide receiver. While his future is on defense in Reno, the above skills translate well as he uses a good first step to get into the backfield and is a sure tackler.

Frank Poso 6-foot-5, 335 pounds OL Branham

Poso made plays on both lines for Branham, which made the Central Coast Section Division IV finals. At 6-foot-5, he has very good size with the athleticism to move in space. He gets off the ball well, is very strong at the point of contact and will provide some position versatility along the line. He is the prototype Mountain West Conference prospect and a nice pickup for Nevada. Poso was ranked No. 20 overall in the preseason 2020 class rankings.
