El Cerrito recently hired Amir Rashad to be the new head coach for its boys basketball team. Formerly known as Quentin Youngblood, Rashad is a 1989 graduate of El Cerrito and is the all-time leading scorer in the schools Basketball history. This hiring could bring a jolt to the EC program that has missed the NCS playoffs the past two seasons. The position became open after former head coach Michael Booker left to return to Kennedy of Richmond.

Good luck to both programs. I've always liked Michael Booker and good to see an alum getting back involved with his program.

Nice. Played against him back in the day at the old EC gym with the pillars. He went on to play at Univ of Wash. Very good player during some great old EC era teams.

Not sure if he is a good coach, but he was a really really good player.
