Cal Poly picked up a real good one with Newman’s Justin Pavitt committing. Top 3 QB in NorCal this year.

Cal Poly signed 13 yesterday, as opposed to 6 last year on early signing day

I think most of the recruiting class was fostered by existing support staff but Pavitt may be a Baldwin find.

I have to give you credit Larry, you were one of the first to start talking about him. Lamson should feel good about his prospects for next year.

Thanks! Something about these kids that stand out to me. They are winners in both classroom and on field. Pavitt is a great fit for Cal poly. Lamson size puts him in another class. He will refine is footwork and passing skills over summer and I think some big schools start offering.

Also heard Jake Woods from CN last year is returning from Army and is being courted by several D1 programs. He didn’t use any eligibility to he’s going to be a nice big hybrid WR.

Don't know but it should be interesting to see how things go at Air Force for Zdroik. So many of the guys that choose military academies only stay one year because military life doesn't always turn out to be what they thought it would be.

Military academy is for a very few %. Probably less than can get into Stanford. Woods played it smart. He basically got another year to gain weight and strength.

Cal Poly has had a few guys including Dano Graves transfer in after a year in the Air Force

that’s awesome champ! Best game of the season was that placer vs newman. I could see placer having a couple cal poly type kids. Jake Woods could end up at cal poly but I think he’s got some big/mtn west type schools offering.

Cal poly is a great place to get a degree and play football.

Woods was probably at Army’s prep football program as he was not active roster. That’s common for recruits to the Academies, particularly West Point. It’s essentially their redshirt year and they play against other prep schools, not high schools. There, they get a distinct taste of the regimentation and the pretty tough academic standards The Point demands. Being commissioned as an officer, they desire capable intellect to lead their subordinates. Not to say this particular case applies to any standard. Maybe he didn’t like the weather...IDK.
The last FB guy I know at WP did all the above and then was admitted to Uniformed Services Medical School...brains over brawn.
