Next year, the CIF in its infinite wisdom, will be condensing the whole NorCal/SoCal/State Championships into two weeks...The first three rounds will be held Tuesday February 26th, Thursday February 28th and Saturday, March 2nd,with the NorCal/ SoCal Championships being held on Tuesday (I kid you not!) March 5th and the State Finals on Friday/Ssturday March 8th/9th.There may be some deviation for the Open Division dates, but isn't this crazy? Especially the regional finals being held on a Tuesday and likely no more than one game per site??!!!

I don't see the big deal. These are kids we are talking about, so I am sure going out there after only a 2-3 day rest is okay for them!

Where did you see that? That moves everything back a couple of weeks. The NCS championships were held March 3rd this year, and I’m sure most of the other sections were as all.

I think CIF is moving all sports state championship to an earlier date, which is why basketball is moving their state tournament earlier. Hence, making the section championships earlier.

Also, I believe all sections will now play 28 games max per season, instead of sections allowed to play different amount of games per season (i.e. CCS 24, NCS 26, etc.)

As I watch the NBA games the last couple of weeks, I cannot help but think that if tanking like this can go on in the open in NBA games to get a better draft choice, how much tanking is going to start happening in California HS basketball so that teams can get into a lower Division and be in a better position to win a NorCal/SoCal or state championship game. I sure hope that does not happen, but am fearful that it unavoidably will.

Everything is moved up a week starting next year, so condensing the playoffs to two weeks instead of three isn't all that outrageous.

From what I heard the NCS hasn't decided whether or not to go up to 28 games even though the CIF has approved it. That's coming from and NCS AD. Anybody with NCS connections know if that's going to happen or when it will be decided?

It must be section approved I guess. I know AAA is going from 30 to 28. Possibly sections in SoCal who are above 28 are obviously going to have to approve to 28 games.

You can't count the hours leading up to a game as a "rest day".. that's one day of rest (2 days for 3 games).. I don't see the benefit for kids. I suspect NCAA regional or something is happening at golden one
