It happens, but it's rare for someone to come on here to really celebrate these kids, their accomplishments, and the difference they are making.
Yep, this is my kid. But honestly, it shouldn't matter, she's a really good, genuine kid, who despite everything she's been through, has always stayed true to the game, while remaining an awesome friend and teammate.

Some things are so much larger than the game itself. And rarely is it put in it's proper perspective. I wish Sierra and family much continued success.Wherever she ends up the team and college will be fortunate to have her.

Did Sierra skip a year of school? I was surprised to read she is only 16.

Yes, Sierra skipped the 2nd grade. Of course at the time we had no idea she would excel at basketball, let alone any other sport. All we knew was she was extremely gifted and did not want to hold her back from excelling academically. Hindsight!

Dang... Prep schools should be burning the phone up. Too bad prep schools are not more common on the girls side.

Why would she go to a prep school? If she's an outstanding student she should get on with her college education. Her degree/education will be for the rest of her life, basketball is fleeting

To get a scholarship to pay for the school. Perhaps the injury limited some options. She has her whole life to grow up :)

Honestly we have been looking at the option of prep school for over a year now. Being that my kid is so young I have always been open to her not rushing into the college life, as a student or student-athlete, so prep school, red-shirting, or taking off a year to mature as a person and athlete are definitely options.
I have told Sierra since middle school, keep your grades up, make your education a priority, and you will have options. She is passionate about basketball, wants to play in college, but an athletic scholarship is not the only means of getting a free education.
Sierra's injury has not limited her options, but it has put things into perspective as to what the priority should be. Right now, the priority is Sierra, getting her through surgery and rehab. We will focus on the other stuff later.
Her surgery is tomorrow morning. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks!

Options a plenty! Best wishes on the surgery and a speedy recovery.

I hope things go well with the surgery and I'm sure it will work out whether she goes to prep school or straight to college. She's a very good player and a leader and the future is bright.

If history is any indication, she will be just fine with options. Looking at high profile players from mcclatchy, deloro,Sac hi,etc over the last 4yrs, all went on to D1 following those injuries.

Sure you have a small team of med/rehab/S&C. Take Sierra to Alex Van Dyke for part of it if you're in the Sac Area.
